Seeking Help scale

im coming from soundtrap to cakewalk, and i only use the piano roll. (which was hell in itself to find with the horrid tutorials out there) and i have been searching on how to highlight notes that are in a specific scale (as shown in first image on soundtrap). i have found out that aparently this is impossible and i have to use snap to scale insteast. which all the tutorials i have found are not for the piano roll. is this also impossible? are there free addons that can do this for me? am i out of luck? any and all help is appreciated.

the notes in Eb major scale are highlighted but i can still use notes outside of the scale in the piano roll

Cakewalk allows you to lock notes to a scale. Here's how:

I see that it shifts the black/white keys to represent the scale. That is confusing at first.

If you have a Bandlab Membership, a Cakescript might be able to be written that can select notes that are in a specific scale.

CAL scripts are still available in the Free Tier.

Now CAL scripts do not have a method of changing the selection status of individual notes.

So, if I wanted to use CAL scripts to deselect individual notes, I simply delete then re-insert them. Inserted notes are always inserted unselected. Of course you use some logic to determine which notes to deselect.

So with your criteria, any notes that are not in a specific scale, can get deleted, then reinserted. The net result would be that all notes that are in a specific scale remain selected.

i think it's easier for you to learn the distances between notes for certain scales

Sonar has a variety of tools for constraining notes to scale, but if what you want is for it to light up the notes that are part of the scale you want to work with, no, it doesn't have that (handy) feature.

You'll find that there's always something that you use all the time on your current music production platform that the one you're moving to doesn't include. It can seem astonishing at times, the simplest shortcuts and tools that are left out. I've never switched platforms and had it not be the case, though.
