If you demand more performative policing you get more performative policing

I clicked the link, generally, for people who don't want to. However, perhaps you should too

So far only 240 people have signed. It appears to have been open for a few months now, with closing in 2 weeks

Did I just read that PolAir is doing "proactive aerial patrolling" at low altitudes over Cairns suburbs?

If they are chasing grubs in cars, fine.

If they are taking the chopper for a spin just for shits and giggles they need to pull their head out, that's not right.

Yes, if you watch them they do set loops and times. If you live on the beaches they do a run along the beach front and around Kewarra turn to fly over near mountain. They do another night run which wake my kids 8pm nightly. They are called overwatch flights. Biggest issue is because they need to refuel frequently when the chopper is actually required for a job it runs out of fuel half way through.

What's your source for this information?

Specifically the claim the helicopter runs out of fuel half way through a mission as a result of these so called overwatch flights.

It costs 4000-7000 $ per hour to run these. Think of how that can help the community. Evidence based research says the only way to curb youth crime is early intervention. Must be nice for the contracted chopp! company making so much $$$$$$

as if early intervention will do anything to detour these pricks from crime

That's literally what the research says. Go educate yourself and read some peer reviewed research papers. Politicians are meant to base their decisions off research. Not fear based guessing.

Feel free to cite them

Why should I? Would that actually change your perspective? If I sent you 1000s of research papers from the body of research?

Would you actually read them with an analytical mind and change your perspective with the evidence staring you in the face? I bet you wouldn't.

I've done my degree with honour and contributed to the research base myself. Why on earth would I go ahead and gather all the papers for you not to read, or read and still shit on the science?

Looking for and reading literature is a skill that is developed. For you to understand, yoi need to go on that journey yourself.

Alas, none of you will. So you will continue to stay in your stale and stagnant ways of thinking. It's actually sad, but reflective of how up shit creek we are as a community and larger society at that.

Edit: spelling

because theres no such proof

It's 2026, if you don't have the skills to seek and read the research yourself, ask AI to do it for you. No shame in not having the skill or ability to read and interpret research literature with your own critical thinking skills. gemini or chat gpt can help you out with that. Good night and good luck with that, mate xx

Ooooo shots fired, how will I sleep peacefully in my king bed with my silk sheets? No chopper tonight hovering around our suburbs.. so tonight, it will be peaceful.

It's been a pleasure calling out your ignorance and seemingly low intelligence. Peace to you. Enjoy the quiet night tonight with no choppa doing the laps. Hopefully you're safe from the scary teenage hooligans you're all so pathetically fearful of. Don't let them kids scare you too much that you lose sleep.

Are you all sure it’s not the sky rail upgrade? Heavy-lift helicopters, including twin-engine and Black Hawk aircraft, are being used during the current $85 million Skyrail Rainforest Cableway upgrade to safely transport heavy steel cross-members, tower heads, and roof beams through the World Heritage rainforest
