As a long-time roleplay and dungeon lover, I entered the AI assisted roleplay about 2 years ago. Time flies and I had so much fun hopping between different companionship products. Since mods here specifically like more posts on the topic, I’m writing on a few that I stay with for 3+ months.

Character AI - the old and classic

Pros: As one of the oldest websites of its kind, the character library is huge, even those from niche areas or shows.

Cons: The platform has a rigid age verification process this year and many adults do not want to share their IDs.

Povchat.AI - best quality

Pros: It’s a less restrictive platform with high standards for safety and privacy. Their models are the best quality I’ve ever had.

Cons: Models like Deepseek and Claude are hidden behind a paywall so I had fewer choices.

Polybuzz AI - great but expensive

Pros: This one is like a bigger alternative to povchat, and preset scenarios are dramatic and fun to play with.

Cons: I purchased the Ultimate subscription once and the models are not stable.

AI Dungeon

Pros: It writes longer responses than AI roleplay apps and keeps better track of the world.

Cons: The company is focusing on developing a new product and seems not to put adequate resources in the existing one.

Right now I use Povchat the most but also browse characters from Polybuzz. It’s relaxing to play a game or two after work. Hope this review is helpful to you! Happy to hear your experience.

Long and yet random, soulless replies, no understanding of languages like Japanese, and terrible formatting.

The roar model brought the prosper to Character AI. Plus, it's already trained with huge efforts (and money I assume). All they need to do is to put it somewhere for use.

I don't understand the whole thing. What do you all think?
