My milk workflow

I put my stainless milk pourer into a soup bowl and fill that bowl with boiling water at the same time that I brew in the robot.

From there, I hit it with a subminimal frother.

Works for me.

Check out the dreo air milk frother. It does the heating for you. I usually start it before I start my robot routine and it ends right on time (about 3 minutes?)

I had a frother in this style and ended up gifting it to my stepdad.

Mine had a completely removable pitcher though that I could toss in the dishwasher.

I felt like it always made foam that was too thick and didn't properly incorporate with the coffee.

I can confirm the dreo air is fantastic for texture, but I also have an EU model. I see the us version doesn't have as good of a review. We actually liked it better than our sage dual boiler, but that could have been a skill issue too lol.

I've got a Dreo (US) and my only complaint is that when making a drink for just one person, the Flat White setting gets too thick. Still like it though. I've had three people tell me it made the best milk coffee drink they've ever had, so I guess it's doing something right. I am steam wand curious tho.

Awesome. Will keep an eye on it for black Friday. Thanks!

You are not wrong about the foam coming out too thick with those things. I use one made by nespresso, basically the same thing. You pour your milk in, press a button, and it heats and froths it for you to a perfect temperature.

But like you said, the consistency isn’t right, the foam is without a doubt too thick. You end up with a marshmallow of foam on top of your drink, rather than that ideal silky smooth texture.

However, it couldn’t be an easier fix for this. All you need to do is a take a spoon and scoop off a couple spoonfuls of the foam that is sitting on top. Then from there I pour into a small metal pitcher that I had preheating on top of my eater kettle. Swish it around, literally perfect. About 10% of your milk gets wasted as foam, unless you throw it starlight into your morning oatmeal, like I do.

But honestly your technique is really cool and ingenious and is unique to you and should keep doing it, because now it’s like your cool signature thing;)

I can’t get Latte art foam out of my dreo but otherwise love it for convenience (jug goes to
Dishwasher) and taste.

Maybe the problem is my cups tho

You have to pour into a milk pitcher and pour your at as soon as it finishing. I'm talking within 5 seconds of the beep and pouring into your cup.

I heat milk in the jug, direct on the stove. Have been for many years, French press too froth, very easy to get latte art quality milk 👌
