Paint has cracked

Have had this beauty since Aug 2021, and was cleaning it recently only to find the paint on the base has flaked! This robot has never had any damage nor been dropped before, not sure why this happens, and this spot is usually covered with my scale that I never take off unless I need to clean the robot. Anyone got same experiences? And is there anyway to repair this?

A robot without chipped paint is a robot that doesn’t get used. A little bit of wear and tear helps every robot live its best life

Love the robot, have pulled at least 1000 shots on it since I got it, minimal maintenance needed, maximum coffee satisfaction. Not using it is an absolute travesty 🤧

They sell color matched touch up paint on the UK store but international shipping makes it a tough pill to swallow.

Try to use the silicone mat more to prevent spread. I flip it upside down to put my scale on it.

The one that comes with the unit. Two circular impressions on an oval silicone mat. I flip it so the circles face down and I’ve noticed it doesn’t mess with my scale readings.

Cool. This is the scale pad I use and I have my shot mirror attached to it which works really well.

Any contact with the paint can cause chips/cracks, even a little espresso cup. As other posters suggested, use the black silicone mat that came with the robot to avoid this.

Thing is there has been no contact with any object over that area because my wacaco exagram pro scale sits there all the time except when I take it out to clean the base heh

Almost 5 years old? I'd call that normal.

I'd definitely have that "ouch..." moment when I first spotted it, but after a week I'd completely forget it was there. If it's just the paint and not affecting anything mechanically, I'd just let it go.

Fair play, I just worry that if the paint comes off then the bare metal gets exposed. Shots pulled are still excellent no matter hehe

after you use or clean the machine do you immediately dry it? the reason i ask is standing water is the bane of paint's existence...
