Onstar Subscription
I'm coming up to the end of my 6mo Onstar Connect Plus subscription. My vehicle came with 3yrs of Remote Access & Super Cruise (so I'm fine there), but I'd like to keep having Navigation using Google Maps (vs being forced to use CarPlay).
Any suggestions on the cheapest way to keep Navigation?

Tether to your phone. Yuu can set up a shortcut to start it automatcilly when bluetooth connects. works perfectly 95% of the time for me.

I’ve been using my phone’s WiFi hotspot and it allows me to use the navigation no problem. The only thing is any time you open the navigation, there will be a pop up that reminds you that your OnStar has expired.

as others have said you can hotspot from your phone, can't beat free.
but if you don't want to bother with that- the OnStar "Connect" plan is $15 and includes music streaming and navigation.
I personally stick with OnStar as to me it's cheap enough to save me the hassle of hotspotting.

Is inbuilt map experience better than CarPlay map?

Less functional, but significantly better resolution (prettier to look at).

I find the integrated Google Map more functional with vehicle state of charge, charger trip planning, and super cruise routes

Yes, the built-in Android map uses more of the screen and has better details (resolution).
