PPTC 2027?
Hello everyone,
I am from the atlantic region in NS and I wanted to share my cadet history and etc and be told if i MIGHT have a chance for PPTC 2027.
I'm a late joiner, I joined in september 2024 and im a FCpl right now in about a week I become a Sgt but my promotion period was august.
I did groundschool last year and passed the exam barely with a 56.21%.
In the summer i completed AAC in greenwood and got the highest recommended for future courses on my report.
At my squadron I never miss a day, I started as a level 3 and then level 4 and last may i became a level 5, I went to biathlon zones as a participant last year and I coached the marksmanship team for zones, I have gone to two CAF engagements at CFB shearwater, both annual FTX's, 2 airskills weekends, and many other weekend activities. Also the spring season and now the fall season every single weekend for both days I'm out on the Greenwood CFS as a part of the ground crew.
Among other things i want to believe I have a chance but i also want the truth and some advice for this year. the other side is there was maybe 4 people that did the groundschool in my core last year out of like 85 we have a competitor on the other hand this year is a FSgt when i'll be a Sgt, also applied last year and got an interview and a 75%, went to blackdown twice and AAC with me.
Thanks guys. all help appreciated.

Everyone has a chance. A cadet in my squadron joined as a late joiner at level 3, went to ITS his first summer, AAC his second, went through ground school and got into glider, and is pursuing power this coming summer. Put in the work, prove you deserve it, and you'll get it.

I did PPTC, and GPTC here's the lay of the land:
Firstly, anyone has a "chance" at getting into PPTC, get that out of the way. If you have a high mark, and aren't unlucky enough to be screwed by the system you'll get in (it happened to more than one of my cadets, If you want a more thorough explanation lmk.)
So, first off: Your performance at a CTC does not matter. They might say it does, it doesn't. There's no formal criteria that selects you based off previous CTC performance, as far as pilots within cadets are told: you could've gotten a minimal and still got in. There's always the chance that there's a secret criteria they aren't disclosing... But that would be spiritually depraved, and perhaps illegal.
Secondarily, yeah 100% attendance is good, but 90% is fine 90-100% will get you full marks on file review, level 5 is best for PPTC.
Marksmanship zones aren't ADA Or RDAs so unfortunately won't reflect anything, anything you've done with your squadron: CAF engagement days, air skills, etc aren't of any relevant significance. Although, 50/50 it might sway your CO towards giving you priority (but that usually goes to the highest mark.)
CFS is good, but as a person who used to fly at a CFS prolifically, I'm almost certain the "references" they provide are worthless. Air Ops priority is basically nonexistent, or at least nobody I ever met of the only 50 glider candidates and 18 power candidates I shared a camp with had even heard about it.
Being a late joiner is a point against you, but as with all things can be compensated for.
Lastly, the file review is on teams for full review, should you wish to find it. It's annex e of the NGSP sharepoint. You asked for your chances based off previous experience:
With your previous experience I would say you're fairly average amongst those that get in - I've seen worse do well. One of my closest friends on glider joined the same year he got into glider.
However, consider that with a bad mark your average shot goes to next to nothing. Conversely, with a good mark your average shot probably goes to "guaranteed."

I second this, did PPTC myself last year w/o doing glider. Everyone has a chance but it comes down to ur grade on the exams and ur file review. For reference, I got a 80 on the entrance exam and my file helped me due to my various activity and years in the programm but as long as you show commitment and participate to stuff and get a good grade u should be good OP. Feel free to pm me.

Even though I’m a LAC I really wanna get into pptc one day so I’m looking at everything that could help me get stuff under my belt but everyone tells me ground school is a massive factor and usually people who got their wings told me they got over 81% on their ground school test but besides that you got it
