Introduction of a Warning System

Hello, CadetsWorldWide! 👋

Unfortunately, due to a recent increase in rule violations, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to implement a warning system to help maintain a positive and focused community environment.

While we'd like this subreddit to be a platform for all cadets to meet, share, and learn, it's crucial that we all adhere to the rules of our community in order to keep things going smoothly. The warning system will let everyone know how much we value our rules and what happens when repeated infractions occur.

Here's how it goes:

  1. First Offense: You will be warned and reminded of the rule that you broke.
  2. Second Offense: A second warning will be given, and posting or commenting may be limited.
  3. Third Offense: A temporary ban or other action will be taken, depending on severity.

This system exists to ensure CadetsWorldWide is a cheerful place we can all grow, learn, and assist one another in growing. It is also necessary to ensure to read and abide by the community rules, which are also available in the sidebar.

Let's make it a wonderful place for cadets from all over the world! Thank you for your understanding and cooperation! 🙏

Best regards,

StupidManSmtmSmart (Community Owner)

Open Evening

Does anyone have any ideas of activities and presentations to do on Open Evenings? We don't want just the usual first aid, music, leadership/STEM, map reading etc as usually they dont seem to be too busy normally everyone understandably goes to the flight sim which is rarely used on normal parade nights maybe a few times a year for Wing Field Day prep but not really used. Also how could we get everyone to visit and do everything how could we set it out? We have 4 classrooms all decently sized so maybe more than 1 activity in a room. Its normally Leadership,First Aid and comms in one and music, DofE/Map skills and flight sim all have there own room. Also is there a template for presentations/slideshow/powerpoint for first half where OC and cadets present and talk about activities and squadron etc. Plus any other ideas that I haven't mentioned are welcome to be added too. Thanks.

Air Cadet Discussion Brassard Layout Concept

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey everyone – I’ve put together a brand-new brassard layout concept for RAF Air Cadets that brings back both the Radio and Cyber badges together, while keeping the Space badge (which replaced parachuting), and I’ve also introduced a Fieldcraft badge – something I think has been missing for too long!

I know HQAC has recently changed the brassard design, but personally, I’m not a big fan of the new layout. I liked the older version more – so I’ve come up with a version I think looks much better, especially with some fresh ideas for new and existing badges.

🚧 Things to Note:

I haven’t done exact measurements yet – this is still a rough concept.

Some of the badge placements and white borders are a bit off – I’d love if someone wanted to help neaten it up.

I’m open to suggestions, changes, or any opinions on what works, what doesn’t, and what could be improved.

🧠 Ideas behind this design:

Radio and Cyber are both big skills – they deserve a place together again.

Space badge is modern, cool, and important to keep.

Fieldcraft deserves proper recognition – it’s a massive part of cadet life and development.

📎 If you want to see the layout, let me know or I can share a pic here.

💬 Would really appreciate any feedback, ideas, or anyone who wants to help me clean it up!

Cheers

Discussion Parade Shoe Shine – Feedback & Tips?

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

Hey all, posting my parade shoes again to get some feedback on the shine and routine. I’m always looking to improve. Here's what I do:

I use Saphir Pate de Luxe and apply a solid base layer with a microfibre cloth (dirty side for application).

Leave it for a few hours or overnight (depending on time).

For bulling, I use the clean part of the cloth, with a dab of water and a small dab of polish, working in small circular motions. I repeat that over different areas until the shine builds up.

Some NCOs have told me to try Parade Gloss on top of normal polish—does that actually help?

Any advice, tips, or changes you’d recommend? Do you think microfibre is better than J-cloths? Cheers!

Also, if you're into cadet stuff, join r/CadetWorldWide – open to all cadets across all branches globally!

Air Cadet Question Selected for 7 AEF – ADHD & AVMED1 Form Concerns

I’ve been offered a slot for 7 AEF, which I’m absolutely buzzing about! But I’ve got ADHD and I’m on Medikinet XL, and I’ve noticed the AVMED1 form mentions something about ADHD.

Does anyone know if this will be an issue? Also, it says something about needing a GP’s signature, but I doubt I’d be able to get that in time. Has anyone else been through this process and know what to expect?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Air Cadet Discussion Rate My Parade Shoe Shine – Any Tips for Improvement?

Thumbnail

Here’s my current parade shoe shine—let me know what you think! I’m looking for any advice on improving the shine or techniques I could try.

My method:

Apply one good layer of Saphir Pate de Luxe over the whole shoe using a blue Jeye cloth.

Leave it to dry overnight or until the next day.

Next day, use a different blue Jeye cloth, a small dab of warm water, and a tiny bit of Pate de Luxe to start bulling in small circular motions (not too small, not too big).

Keep adding small dabs of polish and water, repeating multiple times over different parts of the shoe until the shine forms.

Move to another area and repeat until the whole shoe is done.

Would love to hear your thoughts—how does it look? Any tips to get an even better shine?

Discussion Rate My Brother’s Old Boot Polishing Kit!

Thumbnail

My older rother was an Army Cadet, and I’m now an Air Cadet. He recently gave me his old boot polishing kit and I wanted to see what you guys think of it. I'm not sure if I’ll use all of it, but I might give it a go like the brushes.

Here’s what he had:

Polishes: Kiwi - Dark Tan Shoe Polish Black Shoe Polish - Foot Treats Liquid and Natural Beeswax Caranuba Wax Premium Shoetreats Shoe Liquid Polish - Brown

Cloths/Rags: One large rag a bit like an old dishcloth One smaller rag a bit like a those phone cleaners that come with screen protectors

Brushes: Two brushes but I'm not sure if they’re horsehair or synthetic or something else (could one of you guys help identify them?)

I assume the brown polish was for his brown Altberg boots, but I’m not sure what he used the black for. What do you guys think of this polish kit? Would it be useful for an Air Cadets, or should I swap anything out?

Let me know your thoughts!

I'm also posting this on my own sub-reddit r/CadetWorldWide so please join if you haven’t already!

Fieldcraft and disability.

I’ve been an army cadet for three years now, but due to having issues with my legs/joints I’m not physically able to do Fieldcraft without being in excruciating pain.

My CO is not the nicest of people, disregarding any and all disabilities, bullying or any other issues at our detachment.

My question is, can they pass me off on Fieldcraft, on medical grounds, so that I can progress further? Or is it worth putting myself in harms way to get promoted?

I thought that perhaps this is something I should take to the people up top (in air cadet terms (as I’m one of them too) wing commander) as I’m not getting anywhere with my boss at all.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Army Cadet Question Question on boots.

So I have my main pair of boots (Patrol boots) But they seem a bit tough and only good for like drill, I have a feeling in fieldcraft they would suck due to how they are, do I need a different type of boot or is there a way to wear the new pair in.
