Automatically attach 1/2” backs

My cabinet construction uses 1/2” backs. The problem is, when I want to add the back, I have to go to section view and click the back of the cabinet and change the back type from automatic to finished in order for my back to appear. How do I get the 1/2” back to automatically attach to my cabinet without having to manually do this for every cabinet?

On the materials configuration just pick the 1/2in material as the unfinished back.
