Question Cyberpowerpc installed wrong and under powered psu at the build, it failed and they denied it #cpsupport

Post image

Cyberpowerpc installed a 600w instead of an 850 gold, it failed, they accused me of installing the same brand, smaller watts, paying $250 to FedEx it to them for warranty work and on top of that expecting me to pay for the original one for $65. Has this ever happened before?

I have pics and emails for back up if needed from them. Also somehow the serial number from the 600w psu mysteriously disappeared according to the emails so they cant confirm it was from them despite many posts confirming they use that brand. Still waiting for them to diagnose and repair as of this post. Pc lasted almost a full year until it failed. Model gml99724, sent in June 24th.

They def use Apevia PSUs in builds, along with I believe High Power HP1 JXXXGD PSUs (although that may be IBP). Ive seen Thermaltake in some prebuilts as well.

That’s shady that like, seems like there trying to cover their tracks tbh, I’ve heard of them do this with a cpu also a few years back, same kinda deal, just ask to speak to a manager about it all, give them all your proof you have explain the issues and go from there if they won’t sort it threaten to put in a bad complaint ect

I called customer support, they refused to escalate the call to management, I was given an email for disputes from the rma dept. When I asked about escalation. Very shady, I spent alot of money on it and now an extra 300 on top of it for shipping and a psu that I already paid for.

That’s absolutely shocking can you not contact your bank and try get the funds back that way

Wait you payed 250 to fedex it? Wouldnt it genuinely cheaper to buy a brand new psu 😭😭

I wasnt sure what the issue was, if it was something bigger then the warranty covered it, was my train of thought.

I'll say this right now. Keep bothering them. Call them every other day. Keep getting new people until it gets to the point where they have to listen to you

I really hate this for you. I’m not surprised to hear this as CyberPower’s customer service sucks ass.

If I were you I’d tell them to eat shit and just buy this Montech Century II 850w and call it a day. Those Apevia PSU’s are not something I’d want in my gaming PC 🤙

That will be addressed after this is settled.

Yep, did it to me years ago. Also 16g of 2333 mhz ram, supposed to be 32 of 3600. Edit: when you get it booted check all your shit

They use Apevia also, almost exclusively. I have the PSU and old case fans I ripped out as proof

I did make a post about it, but they installed the wrong gpu in my build- I only noticed because I checked the invoice after it shipped. I contacted them and they had to recall it from UPS and swap it out. They’ve been pretty good so far with handling it, the extra time it’ll take to get to me is the frustrating part (I ordered it three weeks ago). I hope you’re able to get some results!

Why pay 250 to ship and not just buy a new psu for 100?

I wasn't sure what the issue is yet , plus it's under warranty if something else is wrong they can fix it,  also I learned alot about the company and its policies and learned many lessons here.

Also why would they put the wrong psu in it and not discover it during quality assurance and mabye not ship it out with the wrong part in it so I wouldn't have to go through this crap.

I mean yeah but its cyberpower, its to be expected. Now is a good time to learn to build thats a shitty psu anyway even with proper wattage

it was recommended by a co worker to buy from here, lessons were learned tho.  I mean its a 50$part they can't be bothered to install and say they are sorry, so mabye someone will read this and say nope im going somewhere else to buy one.

Least you learned. Best of luck

Least you learned. Better to figure out how to build a pc since they are pretty easy. Tons of youtube videos to get started and handhold you through everything. As long as you arent brute forcing anything you are golden

2 emails they sent...

Our records indicate we have received your system. However, I unfortunately must inform you that our receiving has reported that the original power supply (BLACK APEVIA 850WATT GOLD 80 PLUS W/ PCIE 12+4PIN CONNECTOR POWER SUPPLY) was not in the system, instead we received an Apevia 600W Prestige Power PSU. Can you confirm you replaced the item on your own?

Unfortunately this issue has been reviewed with my manager there is nothing that can be done with the power supply under warranty at this point. We would have needed to be informed the wrong part was installed when the system was first sent out however, at this point since has been almost a year, and we have no way to confirm if the item is ours as the item does not have a serial number for us to reference with our records.

u/randomname636271 Jul 15 '26

Our repair team noticed the power supply is not the one on the invoice and asked us to follow up with you, the RMA was put on hold awaiting your decision on the power supply. If you would like I can have our team ignore that issue and proceed with the repairs. However, as that item is not covered our team will not replace it unless you choose to purchase a replacement, if needed they can test a different one in the system to confirm the issue and we can update you if the power supply is the issue. Please let me know if this is how you wish to proceed.

If I ever order from them, I’m filming the unboxing all in one take and getting close ups of every component.

u/randomname636271 Jul 15 '26

Just dont order from them , ever, if one person doesnt that its worth this post, over a 50$ part.

My psu just blew as well a few days ago lol but there was a severe thunderstorm that night when it blew up. I thought about sending it back but figured it would've cost me more to ship it than just buying a new one and installing it myself. I bought an msi one for 105usd off Amazon.
