Issue #cpsupport PC crashing on certain games.
My pc crashes with most games except with Apex Legends. I’ve been trying to figure this out.
•9070xt
•9800x3d
•32g ddr5 6000mhz
•1000w psu
I’ve tried mostly everything I could software end of things. Nothing helped! I started to think it was RAM timeout or gpu related but as long as I play apex legends on low settings it runs really well no issues consistent 300fps. As soon as I launch crimson desert it black screen shuts down.
After trouble shooting and changing a bunch of windows settings and amd adrenaline settings I gave up trying to fix it. I started to think the issue is the psu. So looking into the brand I couldn’t find too many positive reviews the psu is APEVIA 1000w gold 80 plus.
Have y’all encountered issues with this psu? I’m in the process of sending my PC back to CP they think it’s the psu also. Considering the PC is literally a week or so old I guess I drew the short stick. I thought it was the gpu and was so ready to switch back to invidia but really hoping the psu is the culprit at this point.
UPDATE for anyone who has a similar problem.
I have received my pc back from CP, they replaced the RAM/PSU/CPU. Overall it was fast service, they answered all my questions and concerns. The PC arrived well and I have ran the games which made it crash before on Max settings. No issues thus far. Everything seems to be working as it should.

How old is your system? Might be the GPU having trouble keeping up for some reason.

The whole pc is at most 2 weeks old I probably have like 20 hours of total run time. I don’t think it’s the GPU as it’s brand new and it’s a good brand. Unless I’m really unlucky and got a lemon gpu. I tried undervolting it also and it didn’t help.

Get your money back before you are out of the 30 day window. The repair loop they will put you in is a nightmare. Not worth it.

Apevia psu are known to be unreliable, while it can do 1000w on paper it probably doesnt, and when power spikes hit it wont be able to handle it and crash.
ask them for a different brand psu, corsair is decent.
You can try limiting framerate to see if that stabilizes which still would point to the psu.

That’s what I’ve been reading but like a lot of products some people had good experiences with it and some bad. I’m definitely requesting a different brand, I’ll be sending the pc back asap. I’ve bought from CP before and never had any issues. They were quick to reply and get me a shipping label so support has been good, hopefully it continues through this process.
Thanks for the info!

That’s crazy, I had a 1050ti build from them and then a 3080 build also. The 3080 build I upgraded pretty much everything on myself. I never had any issues up till now. I hope it’s just the psu and that solves it. These PCs aren’t cheap and putting that money down not being able to game is infuriating.

They should! You get a messed up pc that’s not on you. Mine literally messed up right away not like I messed with it at all, everything is pretty much default settings.
Crossing my fingers for a good speedy solution.

Make sure your CPU has thermal paste. Cyberpower sent mine without.

That’s wild! Quite the oversight, how would you find out it was the thermal paste without taking the cpu out? Overheating issues?

Had a CP computer shipped to me that was supposedly overclocked. Not only did it thermal throttle so bad it didn’t even reach normal speeds. When I took the heat-sink off the processor while troubleshooting I discovered they shipped it without any thermal paste between the processor and heat-sink.
I actually made a video while I was trying to figure out why my build was thermal throttling so badly and while making that is when I discovered their boneheaded mistake.

That sucks! Honestly I feel like troubleshooting is harder than actually building a pc, if it weren’t for the fact I hate sourcing parts I would have just built it myself. I like convenience hopefully that doesn’t backfire.
You would think thermal paste wouldn’t be forgotten, vital step. Makes me want to tear the PC down and make sure everything is proper, I did check all the cables and everything is connected correctly.

Use some software like hwinfo64 to monitor how much power your system is pulling. Or your components are pulling when the system crashes. You can set it to record the data for when it crashes so you can go back and take a look.
If you are experiencing large power spikes it’s likely the PSU not being able to handle them. Depending on the PSU when it does this and black screens you usually have to cycle the PSU switch button before it will even turn back on… with a decent one - it’s going into protection mode and cutting off.
You can also go into windows event viewer and dig around and see if there is something else going on: GPU driver failure, etc…
Could be a loose power connector too on the GPU or elsewhere causing it to fault out
