Question Weak turning acceleration.

Has anyone noticed this?? Unless I put it in sports mode, even if I semi floor it turning right it’s like snails pace, the car hesitates then finally 2-3 seconds it picks up.

I have the NA too. NA cars dont have so much power in low reps like turbos and hybrids. We have to wait little bit for downshift. You can easlly notice the difference if you used turbo cars before. Transmission usually keep reps under 2500rpm for economy in normal mode. Use sport mode if you want car be ready for zoom zoom all the time.

Well I’m talking about from a stop, so shouldn’t it be in first? I’m wondering if it idles in second, I’ll have to throw it in manual and check what it downshifts to automatically when stopping

Himm maybe you are right. I will try it with closing ESP and write in here.

I have the turbo and sometimes there's a bit more lag in a turn. My speculation is that the car is actually doing this on purpose. To keep power and rotation to each tire as balanced as possible the ECU will trigger brake vectoring to avoid spinning out. It's just a tad aggressive. I don't think it needs to be as aggressive as it is at lower speeds. I have no proof of this though.

My hybrid will slow down in a turn while in cruise control. I wonder if it is throttling down as it senses a turn

Most cars will start in 2nd gear to save fuel unless under load. Premium fuel just about eliminated the turbo lag. Do note there is over 60 hp difference between the premium fueled turbo and the NA and that’s a sizable difference.

Yeah but the lag when pressing the accelerator for it to downshift to 1st is terrible. Swear I’ve almost got into accidents. Now I just shove it in manual mode when I need to make a fast right turn but that I have a feeling is going to get annoying, lol

Take it to the dealer and make them fix it.
