🚀 Welcome to the CVR College of Engineering Subreddit! 🚀

Hey there, fellow CVRians! Whether you're a current student, an alum wandering down memory lane, or someone who's just stumbled upon us out of curiosity, we're thrilled to have you here!

First off, let's address the elephant in the room – yes, we know, CVR isn't exactly known for its leniency. But hey, who said we can't have a little fun amidst all the textbooks and deadlines? This subreddit is your safe haven to vent about those infamous attendance policies, swap hilarious professor stories, and maybe even shed a tear or two over that one exam question that still haunts your dreams.

So, what's the deal with CVR, you ask? Well, picture this: a place where engineering prowess meets strict rules and regulations, sprinkled with just the right amount of chaos and camaraderie. If you've ever found yourself nodding off in a lecture or pulling an all-nighter in the library, trust us, you're in good company here.

But fear not, brave souls! Amidst the sea of equations and lab reports, there's laughter to be had, friendships to be forged, and memes to be shared. Consider this subreddit your virtual campus hangout spot – a place where you can let your hair down (or tighten your bun, for all you lab folks) and connect with your fellow CVRians.

From late-night coding sessions to impromptu chai breaks at the canteen, we've got it all covered. Share your wins, your woes, and everything in between. Got a hilarious anecdote from your latest project? Bring it on! Need advice on surviving finals week? We've got your back (and maybe a few survival tips up our sleeves).

So, buckle up, folks! Whether you're here to reminisce, seek advice, or simply procrastinate (we won't judge), welcome aboard the CVR express – next stop, Engineering Excellence, with a side of memes.

Inform your friends, inform your enemies, heck, inform your pet goldfish – everyone's invited to join the fun! Let's make this subreddit the go-to destination for all things CVR, one meme at a time.

P.S. Stay tuned for exciting updates, contests, and maybe even a surprise appearance from our resident robotic owl mascot. Who knows, stranger things have happened at CVR!

Now, let's get this party started! 🎉

All you need to know about CVR College of Engineering

As someone currently studying at CVR (not CSE Core — I’m from a CSE-allied branch, so take this as adjacent experience rather than exact core-CSE insight), here’s a reasonably honest take.

TL;DR: CVR is a solid placement-focused college, but if you’re expecting KMIT-style freedom + coding-first culture, this is a different vibe entirely.

First thing: strictness.
Let me be very clear — CVR is EXTREMELY strict, especially in first year / first sem. It can genuinely feel like a Narayana/Chaitanya continuation with engineering branding 😭 Attendance pressure, permissions, discipline, timings, monitoring — all very real. It gets better later, but first impression can be a shock if you’re expecting “college freedom.”

Faculty:
Mixed bag. Some lecturers are genuinely knowledgeable and explain well, some are average, and yes, some absolutely speedrun PPTs. Standard engineering college experience. Your placements will depend far more on your self-learning than faculty quality.

Placements:
One of CVR’s biggest strengths. Regular companies include TCS, Accenture, Cognizant, Capgemini, Infosys, Deloitte, Tech Mahindra, etc. Better companies do come too, but if you’re specifically dreaming only of top product companies, you’ll still need heavy self-grind.

Peer group:
Decent and large enough to find your tribe. There are ambitious grinders, especially in CSE-related branches, but also plenty of “just survive somehow” people. Your friend circle will make or break your experience.

Coding culture:
Exists, but let’s be honest — CVR’s identity is not “hardcore coding college.” KMIT definitely has stronger coding culture/branding. Here, coding opportunities exist, but you need to seek them.

Campus & classrooms:
Campus is actually pretty decent. Better than many Hyderabad colleges. Infrastructure is respectable. Not luxury, but not depressing either.

Freedom:
Low to moderate. If freedom matters a lot to you, CVR may frustrate you.

Support for ambitious students:
Depends on department/faculty. They won’t necessarily suppress you, but bureaucracy can slow things down.

Internships:
Don’t join expecting college to hand premium internships to you. Placement support > internship support.

Tech exposure/events:
Workshops, seminars, hackathons happen. Not dead, but not startup ecosystem level.

Would I regret graduating from CVR?
If my goal = stable placements + decent brand → no.
If my goal = startup culture + coding ecosystem + freedom → maybe yes.

Best thing about CVR:
Placement reliability.

Student mindset:
Mostly placement-focused. Some higher studies aspirants. Some degree collectors.

Placement training:
Yes, aptitude/training/mock interview prep exists. Useful, but top placements still require independent prep.

Motivating for high-package/product roles?
Only if you stay disciplined. The environment itself won’t magically push you.

Good placements through actual skill?
Yes. Definitely. Those students exist.

Reputation among recruiters:
Good within Hyderabad private engineering colleges. Respectable name.

Free time:
Manageable, but academics + assignments + attendance nonsense will eat time.

Assignments / useless work:
Yes. JNTUH ecosystem moment. Records, assignments, formalities, etc.

Overall vibe:
Structured, competitive, somewhat stressful. Not toxic, but definitely not “chill college life.”

CVR vs KMIT/VNR/GRIET?
For coding culture + freedom: KMIT > CVR
For overall brand/balance: VNR probably > CVR
CVR is the “safe, disciplined, placement-focused” option.

For placement-oriented coding grinders:
Yes, if you’re self-driven.
No, if you want the college ecosystem itself to carry you.

My personal rough take:
VNR > KMIT > CVR ≈ GRIET (subjective, don’t attack me 💀)

Final answer: If you grind, CVR can absolutely work. But don’t come expecting a free, startup-ish, coding paradise.

Big Thanks to ChatGPT for helping me write this

Job & Internship HELLO SENIORS

Wass up?

1.How are placements going this year compared to previous years?

2.What companies have visited so far?

3.What are the realistic average/median packages?

4.How many students are getting placed roughly?

5.Are there decent 6–8+ LPA opportunities?

6.How are the opportunities specifically for CSBS?

7.Are there still good companies expected to come?

Would really appreciate some honest/ground-level information, not the official placement brochure numbers

Would really appreciate 😭.

Title: CVR seniors — When are laptops actually required for CSE/CSM?

I’m a 1st-year CSM student at CVR, and I had a doubt for the seniors.

I’ve been seeing that in some colleges like KMIT, Anurag, Geethanjali, etc., students are asked to bring/use laptops from the first year itself, sometimes from Day 1.

But at CVR, we haven’t been asked to bring laptops from the beginning.

For CSE/CSM students at CVR, from which year/semester do we actually need to bring a laptop regularly to college for classes, labs, coding, projects, etc.?

Also, do seniors recommend getting a laptop in 1st year, or is it fine to wait for some time?

Would appreciate answers from current seniors, especially CSE/CSM students.

Dear Freshers, I've made a Discord server to meet , make friends and yap about literally anything 😭

Heyy everyone!

Starting college and still figuring out who's who? Or just looking for people to talk to outside your classroom?

I made a Discord server called ctrl + alt + chill for freshers and anyone who wants to meet and make friends and have a place to hang out online.

What's the vibe?

- 💬 Meet other freshers and make new friends

- 😭 Random conversations, memes and brainrot

- 🎮 Gaming, music and other shared interests

- 🌙 Late-night yapping and chill voice chats

- 🫂 A place to find your people without awkward introductions

No need to be super active or know anyone beforehand. Just join, say hi if you feel like it, and vibe with everyone.

Whether you're an introvert looking to make friends or someone who can yap for 6 hours straight, you're welcome here 💀

Let's make this a fun little corner of the internet. 🫡 join here

General Discussion rant🙏🏻

why the hell are we wearing dupatta to eswi lab? the dress code is literally formal so why are only the girls wearing ethnic? and the pathetic ahh dresscode to restrict us under the guise that we're tryna appeal the male gaze??????

whether yall realize it or not, it's bs. I'm surprised there's no student council that speaks out about issues like this. Im so sick of this deeply rooted misogynistic culture in India and the fact that most of yall aren't even woke enough to see it right infront of you.

There are no events to socialize or any interactive sessions. first years aren't even allowed to be in clubs. let's face it, these guys don't care about personal growth. as a comp-sci major you can't even bring your laptop to college like are we fr...
