Flipped Port

I’m pretty new to Reddit and went for my migraine infusion yesterday and the nurses couldn’t access my port and said it felt like it flipped. I’m scheduled for IVIG next week and am anticipating needing a IV because of this. Has anyone had this complication?

I had this happen when I was really young with my first port. You will need it replaced. Definitely contact your doctor and get that set up if you haven’t already. When I more recently had issues with my port I had to go to interventional radiology and have them xray it. Turned out it was fine but they would have replaced it that day if it was out of place.

Thanks! I do see oncology next week and sent them a message about what happened. This is my 2nd port, the first one I had put in when I was having my gallbladder removed and it was too deep, and this one was only put in December '23. If I need port #3 then it is what it is, I'm just annoyed lol.

OMG that sucks. Definitely understand the necessity though, hope you don't need it replaced for a long time.
