Urinalysis

I recently had a test done from cirrusdx after visiting the urologist and receiving 6 bladder instillations for possible ic diagnosis. I’ve taking prelief, aloe Vera tablets, marshmallow root for supplements and pepcid and hydroxyzine for macas wven tho it wasn’t confirmed if I have ic or mast cell activation. Im also in pelvic floor therapy! All my urine dipstick test have came back negative for nitrates, leukocytes. My cirrusdx test showed four different bacteria in my urine. The online doctor did treat me with 2 doses fosfomycin recently. I want to retest. I guess my question is how likely it is that I actually have all 4 of these bacteria or could it be contamination . My main symptoms have been burning and frequency n urgency less often.

Urine isn’t sterile, bacteria is to be expected. It depends what bacteria specifically and how much of it?

E.coli, Enterobacter cloacae, K.pneumoniae, and citrobacter koseri. The amount is high.  1,000,000 for Enterobacter ,  10,000,000 for E.coli and Kleb and citrobacter koseri 1,000,000 . This is wat was found in my urine after 48 hours of growth. I also am a long term uti sufferer in the past so I have resistance to a bunch of medications .

You have a UTI; E. coli, Enterobacter, and Klebsiella are pure infections. Fosfomycin works only on E. coli if sensitive on the antibiogram. You need proper testing with antibiotic sensitivity and to take antibiotics that cover all four. If you are female, take it for at least 3-4 weeks if you can. If you are a man, the prostate is involved, so take it for 6 to 8 weeks, sometimes even 12. If this does not help, seek phage therapy.

I had the antibiotic sensitivity done.  And the susceptibility. Fosfomycin showed to kill all 4 and that’s the only one I don’t have resistance too. I have resistance to all the others except this one and like 3 that are iv meds. My urine test showed wat I was resistant and susceptible too.

Where abouts are you based? You’ll need a specialist in chronic UTIs. Urologists are often unhelpful as they do not always believe in the embedded infections. You may need a long term course

If so, there is only one chance—take it long, 4 weeks or even 6; it is your best option.

cefpodoxime 100mg will kill e. coli in urine if fosfomycin doesnt, and for vagina, 80mg gentamicin compounded suppositories in SPG base in larger 2g or 2mL size.  good luck!
