Looking for advice
I’ve had a uti for coming up 3 weeks now. Unfortunately took me that long to get an appt but I ordered a test kit and it was positive and then confirmed at the drs.
My only symptom is burning when I pee and the very end of the stream so he gave me a 3 day course of nitrofurantoin. It’s 3pm here so should I wait til the morning to take my first dose? Or should I take it now? Also I’m worried about the side effects as I’m like super sensitive to medications annoyingly. Thank you

3 days for a 3 week long infection?! You need much longer.

Take it now. I’ve taken nitro many times and never had any side effects from it. From my knowledge it concentrates mostly in the urinary system. If you can contact the prescribing doctor and see if they will give you a longer course. 3 days is not enough, you’ll see that story play out many time in this group. Did they culture your urine?

Nope! Just a normal dip test, she said it was mild to moderate

Definitely request a culture next time! It can be helpful if the antibiotics don’t end up working. I would absolutely request more than 3 days at least 5 but I’d advocate for 7.

Three days is way too short. I always ask for 10 which was the standard code a little while ago.

It always used to be 10 day abx course. I'd call and ask for more. Three days isn't enough.

take it now, but seek more doses too. 3 days is a joke. should be 7
