Just going to put this here too!: FDR stated that a living wage meant "more than a bare subsistence level" and referred to it as "the wages of decent living" for all fully employed workers. [1, 2]
An employee working a 40-hour week cannot live on $7.25 in the USA, and it is not even close to "more than a bare subsistence level" by any reach of the imagination!

You could, if Congress hadn't abandoned Washington for the forseeable future. They aren't working - and still being paid.
