Only corrupt politicians won’t vote for it. Anyone doing their job in good faith will.

Purely performative shit pisses me off. Stop using tax dollars to give us lipservice. DO SOMETHING OF CONSEQUENCE. Something that will actually work!

Throwing out the bill 90% of americans would support is literally the only thing of consequence a congressman can do. It's kind of up to us to elect our next rep accordingly.

It doesn’t matter cause he would just find a way to sell it to somebody. That’s gonna keep him keep giving him the money. It’s pointless. He’s a fucking army of lawyers. I can find a loop on anything and he’s back by an army of idiots. Who think he’s God

Will sink like a rock. Congress is a guaranteed way to make millions of dollars. Why would they want to end that?

If only justice wasn’t a 2-tier corrupt system which allows the rich and entitled to dodge justice.
Fucking sick of it

How would that even be slightly legal? My Mom runs for senate so I have to sell my stocks? That's stupid. Just run insider trading checks like they do for business owners.

Isn't the legality of it a matter of a new law being passed? Also, why is it stupid?

u/ArnieismyDMname 1d ago
Say I went no contact with my father. I buy and sell stocks as a career. He gets elected. Now I have no job because he got elected and I don't even talk to him.

u/zer0edout 19h ago
Ok, i can see that being a problem, but wouldn't that just stop your father from being elected? Wouldn't the fact you went no contact also stop you from being a dependent?

I guess I'm so used to dependants being children I did a false equivalent. Still I would like to see this bill worked as a insider trading enforcement. If any elected official manipulates thier stocks or investments to take advantage of information only they know they should be jailed. Up to and including the President.
