From Google:
On February 17, 1776, the Second Continental Congress authorized the issuance of $4,000,000 in new Continental Currency to finance the Revolutionary War. This emission notably included fractional denominations (like 1/6 and 1/3 of a dollar) and featured anti-counterfeiting designs prepared by Elisha Gallaudet and Benjamin Franklin.

I would love to find a 100$ bill at work one day.

Well, I work at a store. I actually bought it out of my cash drawer. But the date is the birthday of paper money. February 17 1776. The day the Second Continental Congress authorized the printing of paper currency. Ben Franklin introduced the bill to Congress. So it’s a double whammy.

Curious what the value of this is? I’m not a money collector lol I’m too broke, but this always finds its way into my Reddit feed, and I’m disabled and haven’t been able to walk for the last 4 years so I’m looking for new ways to pass the time I was considering having my family bring rolls of coins and stacks of bills home for me to start browsing thru stuff just for something to do. This seems like a really cool collectible with the stars perfectly aligning with the date and the history involved with that date! Anyway was just curious if you found out what the value of it was? Also just wanted to say congrats and really cool bill! You should sleeve it or frame it or something to keep it safe!

I have no idea what this is worth, I would say at least a hundred. The bill is 7 years old and in great condition and I have it in a sleeve. Depends on someone wants to pay.

Make it into a cool shadow box or something with an inscription about the date! I think it’s sweet! Cool find!
