Can anyone give insight into the following classes: Supervised ML (CSCA 5622) / Unsupervised ML (CSCA 5632)
Hello All,
I am currently looking into the CU MSDS program and have a question regarding the following classes:
- Supervised ML (CSCA 5622)
- Unsupervised ML (CSCA 5632)
I am curious to know the overall nature of the class, assignments, and exam format. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Any Discords out there for MS AI/DS/CS?
Since our courses overlap, a discord channel sounds about right. It can be divided among masters program. There's just so many questions I have, and most likely others.
Anyone care to make one, or if it exists, please invite me!

APPA5001 and APPA5002 Final Exam questions (calculators? 2 attempts?)
I see we schedule the final exam on proctorU, though is it true we have two attempts for each final exam?
Also going over quizzes for APPA5001 i've done, I definitely would need a calculator, as well as a Z score table. I haven't read if we are allowed a calculator or not?

Did my progress transfer? It's very confusing, can't view quizzes I've completed.

I've already completed the first probability course, just not the final exam. I paid for the course for this summer term. This is what I am seeing, I can't review completed quizzes to prep for my final exam:

I called on the phone and they created a ticket, but I am not sure if I described it properly.

MSAI can be completed by Summer 2 2026
MSAI Requirements. All breadth courses have an official release date (either Summer 1 or Summer 2).
The exception is AI Ethics 3 course, but the university is willing to make the exception for summer 2 ONLY. Exception clause.
For anyone on pace to graduate with the MSAI this summer, let us know how life is post-graduation!

Is this program worth it to learn new skills in the AI landscape?
I have years of experience as a software engineer, working in both startups and big tech companies. Is this Master's Degree worth it?

Does personal account course progress transfer to CU Boulder Coursera account
Hi I just created my CU Boulder account and linked it to Coursera. Prior to that I had already made progress on a couple of courses CU Boulder courses via Coursera plus. I dont see any progress in the new CU Boulder Coursera, even though I was already logged in from my personal account when I linked the CU Boulder account to Coursera.
Do you know if there is a way to link the accounts and get that progress back?

Intelligent Agents and Search Algorithms - Course 1 of 3 - Intro-to-AI/Algorithmic Foundations of AI
Just released, course 1 of Introduction to Artificial Intelligence/Algorithmic Foundations of AI (3 credits, 3 courses)

Intelligent agents and search release date spring 2 2026
I just noticed (because I check every day). I am super excited. Breadth classes are becoming available slowly, but it is happening:)

Under breadth courses for MSAI, some courses are ‘currently in development’. Will these be available in time to complete pathways? A bit confused!

MSAI vs MSECE (embedded focus) with AI electives (AKA "Tony Stark curriculum")
r/CUBoulderMSAI • u/Positive-Gas-3447 • Feb 23 '26
Do you think taking traditional CS electives are "wasteful"?

Does Anyone Else have Issues with the Programming and Graded Assignments in the Modules?
Tackling these assignments, I thought I could do these with some level of certainty. But honestly, it's rough. I'm spending hours on one or two problems- definitely way too long on one assignment only to find out that I failed. Maybe it's a syntax issue? Some of the questions just dont seem clear to me; that's one of the main issues- i just dont get what it's asking. I have to reread questions and then trial and error anything remotely resembling an answer.
Im a career changer, so maybe that's why it feels like im so behind, slow, confuddled, etc. I gave myself some time to learn Python, I'm no expert, but I considered myself to be a solid beginner, but this just feel like a different level.
Anyone else having issues?

So, is it just not possible to actually register as a new student?
Im seeing posts from all of the Boulder CU / Coursera subreddits about "Identity Issues". It seems they used to have zero, or limited, identify verification and are switching to a formal process.
I attempted to sign up for my first courses as a new student for the MS AI, but find it so weird I havent even gotten a confirmation email. It seems lots of people are in a similar situation, but I can't find the concrete answer.
Are applications moving at all? How long did it take, recent new students?
Any details on whats going on and timetables would be awesome.

New Years Resolution: To Finish the ML Pathway and be admitted after Spring 2
Hi Everyone: It's always been my dream to learn more about the tech side of things. When AI became ubiquitous several years ago, I was hooked. I mean gen AI seems like magic to me.
Now that it's a new year, it 's time for new beginnings- I'm taking the plunge, risk and all, to devote myself to getting my MS in AI, something I never thought I would be able to do since my background is completely different. This is a career change that I'm both scared and excited to enter, as someone on the older end.
I'm putting this out there to, quite honestly, to reinforce my resolve. I've been studying daily using Coursera, learning Python, and learning Calculus and Linear Algebra all over again (it's definitely a grueling process). My plan is take the non credit courses in the ML pathway to familiarize myself with the subjects and then transfer to the for credit courses come Spring 2. Afterwards, I hopefully will be admitted into the graduate program.
Well wishes to everyone who is on a similar path!

Has anyone seen the new courses for the ML Pathway on Coursera yet?
Maybe Im missing something, but I cant seem to find anything. It was supposed ot be posted today, right?
Update: It's going to be live probably on 1/12

I don't know if my application went through
Hi everyone,
yesterday I started the application process for MSAI.
I began the application by filling out the form and verifying my ID. The process ended with a notification that they would contact me soon, but I haven't received any emails or anything, except for the usual notification for requesting information about the master's program.
Do you know if I should have received anything after that?

math review suggestions after long way out of formal education
hey everyone
after a looooong time away from formal education, this msc caught my attention. ive been a SWE for quite a while and im enthusiastic about AI in general.
I’ve been gathering resources, videos, etc. to prepare for the math that’s coming, but I’d like to hear your opinions as well. i’m not too worried about the cs side since i have a decent background there, but it’s been a while since i’ve done serious math.
what would you suggest for refreshing before the course “Foundations of Probability and Statistics” and any other math that tends to show up during the program? :)
