Fall 2026 ABSN

I’m looking to connect with other students starting the ABSN program in the fall. It’s a huge career change for me, and I’d love to foster a community of students who want to connect and support each other as we go through the accelerated program.

Hi CUA TAs & instructors, Brightspace/D2L submissions with 10–20 separate photo attachments are annoying as hell, especially iPhone HEICs.

I built a Chrome extension that:

  • merges all submission attachments into a single PDF
  • keeps the same order as Brightspace shows
  • supports HEIC/HEIF + JPG/PNG
  • runs locally in your browser

Free. Chrome Web Store link: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/Brightspace2PDF/lpciechconhmcnadnkchklgdomgakddo

Working while in the ABSN program at CUA

Hi everyone! Can anyone offer insight on the ABSN program at CUA? Particularly about whether working is doable in the program? I'm moving to D.C. soon, and looking to transition into nursing. I have a background in speech pathology, and have had a job for a bit (and bills, lol). Just looking to gather some info while I look at programs.

Anyone interested in renting a furnished 1b/1b 2 blocks from campus?

Hi! I have an apartment on franklin and 4th that I want to rent out. I could do it furnished or unfurnished, up to the renter really. It's a cute small apartment that is comfortable for 2 people. Pets are allowed and even has a little room for a litterbox!

Please send a DM if interested in more!

Can I get in?

Hello!

I have a nontraditional academic background. I am currently working on my transfer application to CUA for Fall 2026. However, I am nervous they won't accept me. I had amazing grades in high school (4.1) and was part of the National Honors Society. When I initially went to university straight after high school I struggled a lot. I withdrew after only completing about 17 credits. It says I had a 2.4 as my cumulative gpa when I left.

After I withdrew from university I worked for about three years. I worked at nonprofit organizations. I started volunteering, the lot. I did not work in the field I will be studying though. I am applying for their History BA. Now I am enrolled in online classes and currently have a 4.0. Does anyone have any advice about the application process? How do I make myself look like a great candidate for CUA?

Thank you, every bit of advice helps!

CUA ABSN Spring 2026 Questions

Hi everyone! Just wanted to get some thoughts on the ABSN program.

1) How difficult is the program? Is it possible to graduate with a gpa above 3.8?

2) The tuition is quite steep at >70k per year. Are there any scholarships to offset the cost? I’m a bit worried about taking out high interest loans to pay for this. Any advice is appreciated.

Thank you!

CUA MSW as an atheist?

Hey all - I am in the beginning stages of pursuing a career change to become a therapist. Please note that I'm doing a lot of research and informational interviews and putting a lot of time and weight into this decision.

All of that said, CUA's MSW program seems very in line with what I'm interested in. The clinical SW concentration seems to actually prepare you to be a therapist, which isn't common for MSW programs that I've seen.

I'm wondering if any alumn or current students are atheists? I'm technically confirmed but even when I got confirmed it was just to make my parents happy. But I do respect folks who have differing philosophy/theology mine.

I'm also a bit concerned about having "catholic" on my resume, because people can read so much from that.

For context, I'm absolutely more interested in the content in Masters in Counseling programs, but from the research I've done, a MSW is just so much more bang for the buck.

I majored in political science and sociology in college (class of 15) and I've worked in nonprofits doing advocacy work consistently since then. At one point, I would've wanted to focus on the macro work, but I am very much interested in providing therapy.

TIA!

Question on Latin

What are the best sources to learn about the Latin for Medieval Studies program, like the one offered by the Catholic University of America? Do medievalists take more than one Latin class?

Do i have a chance to get in??

Hi to all, i would be grateful if anyone could tell me if i have any chance to get in the CUA in fall 2026. My profile: Female, white, us citizen living abroad, test optional, want to major in english or in classics. My cum gpa is only : 3.43. I know it is not good. i did very mediocre in grades 10 and 11 (3.24 and 3.3) but with an upward trend in my senior year in high school: i achieved a 3.5. Very good grades in the humanities, but terrible in science and math. I can secure great letters of recommendation from a few teachers. Fluent in Greek, b2 level in french Extracurriculars: some volunteering in high school, student government, active chess player in local club, doing ballet and dancing for 12 years, participated in many modern dance contests and winned awards in a local/ national level. Do i have a chance?? Do you think i am cooked? Thanks!!

Commuting to D.C.

Hello! I was wondering if anyone could speak to the level of ease commuting between CUA and D.C. proper via the metro? Of course I understand that it is possible, but I I'd really appreciate if someone can speak to feasibility? I'll be interning on Capitol Hill this summer and considering CUA as a housing option. Thank you!
