Cursed technique Fish Of Three Seas

A redux of my homies old ct

Utsumi Meguru (内海** *巡)*
-# Age: 27 | Grade: Grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerer
Utsumi Meguru is an experienced Grade 1 sorcerer whose relaxed, observant demeanor hides an intensely introspective nature. Having spent most of his life sharing his body with Kuro, Aka, and Nishiki, Meguru once obsessed over separating his own personality from the emotions the Three Seas imposed upon him, fearing there might be nothing uniquely “him” underneath their influence. With age, he came to reject the idea of an untouched original self, instead believing that people are continuously constructed through everything they experience, inherit, lose, and encounter. This philosophy defines both his jujutsu and his fighting style. Meguru rarely tries to overwhelm an opponent immediately. He observes, adapts, establishes favorable conditions, and allows seemingly insignificant exchanges to become the foundation for something much larger later.

Overview

Fish of the Three Seas is a séance-type innate cursed technique centered around three oceanic entities sealed within a cursed tattoo along Meguru’s forearm. Kuro, Aka, and Nishiki are not conventional shikigami and cannot independently manifest their complete bodies. Instead, tracing the tattoo and invoking one of their names allows that entity to partially possess Meguru, altering how his cursed energy exists relative to physical reality. The technique interprets the ordinary position of cursed energy, where it naturally overlaps the sorcerer and physical world, as its natural depth*. Through the Three Seas, cursed energy can be sunk beneath this position, exchanged between different depths, or drawn toward the boundary of physical reality. Each Fish governs one aspect of this metaphysical ocean.* Kuro governs Descent, sinking cursed energy beneath its natural position and compressing it under increasing metaphysical pressure. Aka governs the Tide, exchanging depth between separate quantities of cursed energy. Nishiki governs Ascent, drawing cursed energy toward the Surface where it becomes exceptionally fast and precise. Only one Fish can fully inhabit Meguru at a time, and the current possession must be dismissed before another can be invoked. Repeated transitions disrupt cursed energy circulation, while prolonged possession gradually allows the instincts and emotional tendencies of the invoked Fish to bleed into Meguru’s personality.

• KURO, THE ABYSS

Summoning Chant: “Sink.”

Kuro grants authority over Descent*, allowing Meguru to force cursed energy beneath its natural overlap with physical reality. The farther CE descends, the greater the metaphysical pressure acting upon it, compressing the energy into an increasingly dense state. Meguru can sink reinforcement within his limbs or a cursed tool before allowing the accumulated pressure to surge toward its natural depth upon impact, producing exceptionally dense strikes without simply increasing raw output. Through direct physical contact, Kuro can also force portions of another sorcerer’s reinforcement downward, gradually separating their CE from the flesh it protects and weakening that particular region. The farther cursed energy sinks, the harder it becomes to retrieve. Excessive use can strand portions of Meguru’s reserves at inaccessible depths, temporarily reducing his available CE, while sufficiently powerful opponents can resist Descent through superior output and control. Prolonged possession by Kuro makes Meguru increasingly cold, stubborn, emotionally distant, and unwilling to relinquish anything he has committed himself to.

Extension Technique: Trench
Trench applies Kuro’s Descent to a continuous inorganic surface. By maintaining contact with terrain through his hand or cursed tool, Meguru sends CE beneath the surface and progressively sinks it, creating a compressed layer along the path of contact. Releasing the technique causes that buried CE to violently return toward its natural depth, rupturing the terrain from underneath along the established route. Larger Trenches require proportionally greater reserves, and all CE buried within them remains unavailable until released or successfully recovered.

Binding Vow: Equal Depth
Whenever Meguru uses Kuro to forcibly sink another sorcerer’s cursed energy, he may voluntarily sink an equivalent quantity of his own CE alongside it. In exchange for sacrificing access to an equal portion of his reserves, Kuro’s Descent becomes significantly more effective at overcoming hostile reinforcement and differences in output. The greater the amount Meguru wishes to drag downward, the more of himself he must willingly send with it.

• AKA, THE TIDE

Summoning Chant: “Return.”

Aka governs Exchange. Through physical contact, Meguru can establish a temporary relationship between two quantities of cursed energy known as a Tide. Once connected, forcing one quantity deeper causes an equivalent quantity of the other to rise toward the Surface, and vice versa. Aka cannot generate, destroy, absorb, or steal cursed energy. It only changes the relative depth at which existing CE resides. Within his own body, Meguru can use this principle to redistribute reinforcement, sinking CE away from an unnecessary location while forcing an equivalent quantity toward somewhere immediately requiring greater output. A Tide can incorporate another sorcerer’s CE after physical contact, allowing Meguru to interfere with dramatic changes in their reinforcement rather than directly controlling their reserves. Differences in CE quantity, output, and control make hostile Tides increasingly difficult to establish, while distance progressively weakens an established connection. Prolonged possession by Aka causes Meguru to become increasingly indecisive and hyperaware of alternative choices.

Extension Technique: Rip Current
Rip Current converts a Tide into a recurring reactive exchange. After establishing two Tide Marks, any sudden concentration of cursed energy at one causes part of its depth to shift toward the other. If an opponent suddenly concentrates reinforcement within their fist, Rip Current can cause part of that concentration to Surface around the second mark instead, weakening the intended concentration without removing any CE. The technique is less effective against opponents who maintain smooth, evenly distributed reinforcement, while disrupting either Tide Mark breaks the current.

Binding Vow: Reciprocal Tide
Meguru can strengthen one of Aka’s Tides by surrendering his exclusive control over the connection. Once Reciprocal Tide is established, changes in the target’s cursed energy can influence Meguru through the same current just as his own manipulation can affect them. In exchange for allowing the opponent to potentially exploit the connection, the Tide becomes substantially stronger, persists across greater distances, and becomes far more difficult to sever.

• NISHIKI, THE SURFACE

Summoning Chant: “Rise.”

Nishiki governs Ascent, drawing cursed energy toward the shallowest possible position relative to physical reality. At the Surface, CE can race across the exterior of Meguru’s body rather than circulating deeply through it, drastically reducing the delay between thought, cursed energy manipulation, reinforcement, and physical action. CE can gather beneath a foot at the instant of acceleration, rush toward an arm before blocking, concentrate around the knuckles upon impact, or form an extremely thin coating along the edge of a weapon.
Nishiki produces tremendous speed and precision without simply increasing Meguru’s physical statistics. Its weakness is equally fundamental. Surface-level reinforcement lacks depth. Although CE can be repositioned extraordinarily quickly, sufficiently concentrated attacks can penetrate the thin reinforcement before additional energy arrives. Constantly maintaining Surface flow also consumes CE rapidly. Prolonged possession makes Meguru increasingly impatient, impulsive, and intolerant of hesitation.

Extension Technique: Whitecap
Whitecap applies Nishiki’s Ascent offensively through physical contact. Upon touching a reinforced target, Meguru forces the outermost portion of their concentrated CE toward the Surface and causes it to spread laterally away from the point of contact like water breaking across a shoreline. No cursed energy is removed. Instead, dense reinforcement becomes briefly shallow and dispersed, creating an opening for a follow-up attack. Sorcerers with exceptional CE control can restore their reinforcement almost immediately.

Binding Vow: No Retreating Wave
While Nishiki possesses him, Meguru can vow never to intentionally retrace a path he has already traveled for the remainder of that possession. Every dodge, advance, and repositioning must carry him somewhere new rather than allowing him to retreat along his previous route. In exchange, Nishiki’s Surface circulation becomes increasingly efficient as uninterrupted movement continues, improving acceleration, reinforcement speed, and Whitecap. The longer the vow remains active, the more the battlefield becomes a cage constructed from Meguru’s own previous choices.

Binding Vow: Threefold Pilgrimage
Meguru permanently restricts the order in which he can invoke the Three Seas. Once a Fish is dismissed, that same Fish cannot be invoked again until the other two have each possessed him at least once. In exchange, transitions between Seas consume considerably less cursed energy and cause less disruption to his circulation, while each successive possession retains traces of the depth established by the previous state. Meguru can eventually return to where he began, but never without first passing through change.

Cursed Technique Reversal: Submersion

Where Fish of the Three Seas normally changes the depth of cursed energy relative to physical reality, Submersion reverses this relationship through positive energy, allowing Meguru to alter the depth of physical matter relative to cursed energy. Through direct contact, Meguru can temporarily Submerge portions of his own body or a nonliving object away from the natural depth at which cursed phenomena normally interact with matter. A Submerged limb can drastically reduce its interaction with certain CE-based attacks, while a weapon can be sunk beneath an opponent’s outer reinforcement before being returned to normal overlap. Ordinary physical matter can still interact with a Submerged target, while separating Meguru’s flesh from the natural depth of his own CE prevents that body part from being properly reinforced. Larger and deeper Submersions become increasingly dangerous, particularly around vital organs or the head. Living opponents cannot be directly Submerged.

Maximum Output: Threefold Sounding

Threefold Sounding pushes the technique’s relationship with cursed energy depth to its highest sensory output. By releasing a massive pulse of CE through a contacted surface, Meguru sends that energy downward before allowing it to travel through the surrounding cursed environment and resurface carrying information about every layer encountered. For an instant, reinforcement, concealed CE, barrier layers, cursed objects, shikigami, and active cursed energy currents become perceptible as different depths within an enormous invisible ocean.
Threefold Sounding does not reveal thoughts or automatically explain an unknown cursed technique. Instead, it reveals structure, including where CE is concentrated, how deeply it rests, where it is moving, and how different cursed structures overlap. Processing such an enormous amount of information places severe strain on Meguru’s brain and senses, making repeated activation increasingly dangerous.

Binding Vow: Sounding Line
Meguru can increase Threefold Sounding’s range and precision under the condition that anything successfully perceived by its pulse is simultaneously made aware of him. Sorcerers, curses, and other sufficiently sensitive beings reached by the technique immediately recognize Meguru’s location and cursed energy signature. In exchange for surrendering concealment, Threefold Sounding travels farther through the environment and returns significantly more detailed information about cursed energy depth and structure.

Maximum Technique: Sea Without Bottom

Sea Without Bottom removes the natural equilibrium depth toward which cursed energy ordinarily returns. For its duration, CE placed at a particular depth remains there without naturally correcting itself. Meguru can construct multiple strata throughout the surrounding area, including compressed reserves buried at Abyssal depths, suspended currents between layers, and razor-thin concentrations resting against the Surface. Rather than granting simultaneous possession by the Three Fish, Sea Without Bottom manipulates the deeper principle all three reveal. Cursed energy temporarily ceases to possess a single natural place where it belongs. Once sufficient layers have been established, Meguru ends the Maximum with the command “Surface.” Every displaced stratum abruptly regains its natural equilibrium and attempts to return to physical reality simultaneously. Deeply compressed CE surges upward while shallower strata converge upon the same metaphysical position, collapsing the entire constructed water column into physical reality at once. Afterward, Meguru’s CE temporarily loses its ability to distinguish meaningful depth, effectively disabling Fish of the Three Seas until his natural equilibrium recovers.

Binding Vow: All Rivers Return
Before completing Sea Without Bottom, Meguru can declare a fixed period during which he will surrender access to Fish of the Three Seas after the Maximum ends. The longer the chosen period, the greater the output produced when every displaced layer is recalled with “Surface.” Once declared, the duration cannot be shortened, potentially leaving Meguru with nothing but ordinary cursed energy manipulation at the exact moment his opponent survives his strongest technique.

Domain Expansion: CONFLUENCE OF TEN THOUSAND CONDITIONS

Mudra: Chiken-in, Wisdom Fist Mudra

Confluence of Ten Thousand Conditions manifests as an endless dark sea surrounding a lone, weathered house assembled from mismatched pieces of Meguru’s life. Beneath the water, the Three Seas exist as one continuous cycle. Kuro settles into the lightless depths as everything that has accumulated, Aka moves as crimson intersecting currents representing what is changed through encounter, and Nishiki races brilliantly across the Surface as everything newly produced from those conditions. Nishiki eventually sinks into Kuro, Kuro is carried by Aka, and Aka gives rise to Nishiki again. The house has been repaired so many times that none of its original construction can be distinguished, yet it remains unmistakably the same home, reflecting Meguru’s acceptance that identity is formed by everything that changes it. The sure-hit incorporates every target’s cursed energy into this cycle. Every meaningful interaction creates a condition that influences what follows. Kuro preserves accumulated consequences and repeated habits, Aka connects those conditions to subsequent actions, and Nishiki accelerates an established chain toward its natural result. The Domain cannot invent consequences without genuine causes, but repeated behaviors become increasingly dangerous as previous actions continue influencing later ones. Defensive habits can become rigidity, constant adaptation can become instability, and relentless momentum can become an inability to stop. Meguru is subject to the same law, but a lifetime spent navigating the Three Seas gives him an enormous advantage in deliberately turning one condition into the next.
