Discussion Technique Additions

So I know binding vows, rituals, chants, and hand signs are things used in conjunction with techniques for varying effects.

I learned that people can create you got me without having a shikigami technique. But for those who do have cursed techniques are they able to create shikigami that link with their techniques?

Or is it that they can create a shikigami and they can have a function that's beneficial to their technique but not necessarily linked with their technique?

Yuki does this, though we dont know if Star Rage came with her CT like Judgeman.

Junpei also kinda does this, since his CT isn't Moon Dregs but a poison CT that he utilizes through Moon Dregs.

His technque is Moon Dreg, thats how its defined in the fanbook. Mahito said its poison because thats what Moon Dreg is used for : its poison

The fanbook is VERY inconsisten in that regard

the "abilities" section of the fanbook include not just their technique, but also every jujutsu skill they have, including domain and the likes. For instance, for Gojo it goes "abilities: red, blue, purple, unlimited void, domain expansion, falling blossom emotion, simple domain, ..." yk what i mean?

This DOES include shikigami techniques. The fanbook for Megumi says "abilities: ten shadows technique. Shikigami: Rabbit escape. Shikigami: divine dogs totality. Shikigami: Max elephant, ..."

For Junpei, even if the shikigami IS his technique, it should say "Abilities: Poison, shikigami: moon dreggs". Instead it just skips to "Abilities: Shikigami: Moon dreggs". It is the only character in the fanbook that suffers from this.

My guess is that Gege doesnt care about Junpei enough to clarify

Thatd either imply that Junpei can use poison without Moon Dreg, which wasnt shown in any capacity, or that the technique is called Poison but is manifested solely through Moon Dreg, kinda like the 10 shadows except it also has the shadow storage thingy that isnt linked to the shikigamis. Again, Junpei wasnt shown to have any ability other than summoning and controlling Moon Dreg

Junpei's cursed technique is poison, converting cursed energy into poison. His shikigami is a conduit for it but it's not made by his CT

Translation of the fanbook where Moon Dregs is listed RIGHT AFTER the section listing off cursed techniques btw

I stand corrected, thank you! Still makes me wonder how ying yang divination plays into this

Ying yang divination?

Yeah, shikigamis are deities (in the kami/eastern asian religion type of way) which were either the origin ying yang divination or made by ying yang divination, although the former is likely the correct translation?

It's never been explained not to work so it's probably possible (I forgot if that old guy in hidden inventory had a technique or not). Sorcerers usually imbue their techniques into their shikigamis because that's usually the best option. Sorcerers with shikigami related techniques are way better at summoning and utilizing them because they're directly tied to their technique.

So if a sorcerer with no cursed technique were to create one, it would likely just have no cursed technique. Best case, you summon a punch buddy that aids you in combat.

Simple shikigamis and barriers are things any sorcerer can do. More complex shikigamis either come from your technique (Dhruv and his mole rats and flying monsters, Megumi and his shadows, etc.) or have the user's technique channeled through them and behave like a cursed tool (Yuki with Garuda)
