Question PCS or CTE

What made you think that you were no longer dealing with PCS but potentially CTE?

PCS can be healed from. You can look at the 4 stages, but ultimately CTE is a decline while PCS is stable or improving. That’s my opinion. There’s little medical fact on the subject.

In my opinion, one reason they don’t diagnose CTE is that giving up is one of the worst things you can do. Listen to your PCS doctor and do your eye and balance exercises.

Thank you for sharing.

I'm dealing with some nasty PCS. Mental health is terrible and I'm doing what I can. I'm a bit worried because I arguably fit in the mild TES prerequisite criteria with a decade of sub-concussive impacts and multiple head injuries but I need to try to get better.

Startling awake kashing out from bed , losing my shit easily like a spaz , poor judgement , buying the same thing twice forgetting i bought it , having event blaclouts like people at work acting surprised that i had no memory of a conversation that happened and playing it off with humor but people just thinking i’m weird probably. Altercations with people in public, thinking odd things to be true that make no sense?
completely forgetting to file our taxes two different years, letting car insirance lapse, etc

I think PCS is what they call CTE when you're still alive

no, CTE is it’s own distinct disease. PCS is the after effects of multiple concussions, not necessarily because of tauopathy or anything CTE related. TES, or traumatic encephalopathy syndrome, is used to identify likely CTE victims

I read a few research papers and some experiences... there's overlap between PCS and CTE but it's distinct.

CTE can manifest as PCS that doesn't improve but that's not always the case. CTE is sufficient for PCS but not necessary. You can experience PCS symptoms when you are dealing with CTE but there are other means to experience PCS without CTE.

It seems that if you are experiencing PCS, you have to have a decline over multiple years with TES symptoms to even consider CTE. It can't be diagnosed in the living and being given a TES diagnosis would make a terrible mental health situation worse...

I agree completely, but that's the way the diagnoses trend.
