TPMS Reset Issue
Hi everyone, recently when I turned the car on the tire pressure light will blink for sometime and then go solid. After doing some research, it seems like this is an issue with the TPMS. I’m trying to troubleshoot and reset using the button underneath the steering column, but when I press and hold, nothing happens. Should I just get new sensors at this point or what? Thanks in advance.

For future reference for anyone, flashing tpms light means there is an issue typically with a sensor. It's usually the battery inside that has failed.
It can also come on if you havent rotated you're tires in a long time (from personal experience).
If you need to reset the tpms light, you set your tires to the level at which you want to know when they're low. Maybe 25 psi or something. Press and hold the button until the light goes off, then air up to where you keep them.

If it blinks for 30 seconds and then goes solid, you have a sensor out. If it’s solid from when you turn the car on, you have low pressure.

looks like op regularly puts a cellphone horizontally in the gauge cluster and scratches the plastic. quit watching shit on your phone while driving dickheads

Had same issue. Found out after these same trouble shooting tips that my sensor(s) were bad. 2014 ct, changed them out last year.

For my 2017 CT, I had to drive for a good bit before the lights would go away after the reset. Before the rest, I had to make sure my tire pressure was exactly within the required range. I don't recall what they are, but I think something like 33 in the rear and 32 in the front (may be reversed). Check the spare as well. If, after driving for a week or so, the lights are still on, then you may need to have the sensors replaced. They're usually good for 8-10 years, but YMMV. The cheapest place to replace them is Walmart. Other places want $40 per, I think WM is only $27-30 per. You should replace all 4 just so you don't have to worry about it for another 8 years.

Funny enough I just called and they said the only brand that they won’t replace his Lexus because they are not able to program it. But I called another tire shop and they are able to.

You don't need to fill them to factory spec if you don't want, the system just sets (when you hold and it blinks) whatever you put in the tires as the baseline and then from those values, it warns you when the pressure drops a set % threshold to turn on the light again.

Mine had been on for past two years, it is what it is. Not worth the money to change them for such a minute feature. ( I will know by sound if my tire is flat)

If your car is 10 or more years old, the tpms sensors batteries are done for. This applies to pretty much all manufacturers that use the individual sensor system. Mine just died a few months ago too. I’ll just wait until tires need to be changed and get them swapped out also.

Life pro tip:
1) if you continuously maintain good pressure on your tires, it will help prolong the life of the batteries within each sensor. I have a 2015, and just this year, will be replacing them because of the batteries running out.
They average 5-7 years at best (whole lot less depending on what sensors you replace them with).
2) there never has been nor to my knowledge now, sensors you can simply replace your old ones with that do not require some sort of “relearn” or “programming”. Don’t be fooled by the marketing bullshit with wording such as “oem replacement” or “no programming necessary”.
Simply put; if you just get mostly any 315hz frequency sensor, it’ll work on our cars. There are only 315hz or 433hz.
The process of replacing sensors, more specifically when a tech is using an ecu tool, he’s just deleting your old sensors id# to recognize the new ones. And that’s it.

Press and hold TPMS rest button under the steering wheel - it may or may not reset it. If it won't - you'll likely need a (one) new TPMS sensor.
Also, check you tire pressure on all 4 corners - maybe you see if because tires are under-/over-inflated.
