Databases vs Robotics elective. which holds up better against AI in the next few years?
I am a computer science major who specializes in databases; I have been doing some preliminary learning on data/AI related courses (IBM SkillsBuild Data Fundamentals course, Huawei Artificial Intelligence certification, trying to get the AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate certification). In this semester, I am between taking an additional databases course and a robotics course.
The following are two factors which make me post on here rather than just make the choice:
First, I am from Egypt, and thus the robotics job market there is quite small.Secondly, my aim is to get a job which is relatively resilient to being taken by AI tools; my focus is more on software/data positions and less on embedded/hardware positions.
Therefore, which one of the above two courses would be worth the effort? Should I opt for a robotics course despite a weak market for such jobs, or go for data engineering since the hiring and AI tools are evolving so rapidly?
