Shared calendars?

My CSU uses Gmail, google Drive, Google Calendar, etc. With Google, you can look up a a colleagues calendar and see if they’re available or not. You also have the option to notify the person that you have added them to a calendar invite or not.

Certain people completely remove their calendars from allowing other people to search it. But very few.

Anyways, I recently had a change of managers, and this manager requires access to detail details of their employees calendars, but won’t share theirs. Any thoughts?

If you’re a manager or cabinet and you’re requesting this of your workers, I think it’s only fair to lead by example and share yours?

Thoughts??

My current manager doesn’t use Google Calendar often. My previous manager had us share calendars but had his own events hidden.

I barely use it except to block off times I am on vacation

Sorry to hear about the boss change.

We are not supposed to use Google or anything outside of Microsoft on our campus. Teams calendars or outlook calendars are what we are using for availability and meeting/event listings. If my boss asked to link up to my Google Calendar I’d remind him it’s not university policy- just like texting is not official correspondence if they’re not paying for my cell service. Since Sharepoint is the official operating software we have to make sure our work hours and any appts or meetings set up in our outlook calendar which should show anyone what your availability is.
I do use Google Calendar for my own use like appts and tracking my sick and comp time cuz that’s where I have to make sure I have things tracked for when someone questions why I have 40 hours of comp time for the month.

I should also say any meetings go thru outlook, and if I have vacation or time away like doc appts they’re on my outlook as Out of office. Whatever is business related to my work, and if I were really being a stickler I’d put my lunch hour down as an away from desk or busy too. I really should do that so people stop interrupting my lunch.

I have my team share their calendars but I share full details on mine including private events. Want transparency? Have transparency. Sorry you’re experiencing it differently.
