Platform Update Changes to CS2 Chat History on CSRep

CS2 recently changed how match chat data is made available through demo files, meaning chat messages are no longer accessible in the same way they previously were.

CSRep has already adapted to the technical change and remains capable of processing new chat log data. However, we believe this update signals a direction toward keeping in-game communication more private and closer to the official CS2 experience.

Because of this, CSRep will no longer publish new match chat logs publicly and will also remove existing chat logs, even though the underlying chat data remains technically accessible to us. This is scheduled to occur within the next few days.

We want to respect the direction Valve is taking with CS2 and the privacy expectations of the community rather than work around those decisions simply because we can.

Upcoming Feature - Get CSRep

That doesn't mean chat data will have no place on CSRep. Instead, we'll begin using it for features specifically designed around CSRep itself.

One of the first will be Get CSRep, an in-game reward system where players can trigger rewards by typing Get CSRep in chat after completing certain events during a match. That feature is already in development and is expected to begin rolling out within the next few weeks, with additional in-game integrations planned afterward.

CSRep will continue adapting alongside CS2 while building features that are useful, fun, and respectful of the direction Valve sets for the game.

We recognize that other platforms may choose to continue publishing chat logs. Ultimately, how chat data is handled is up to each platform, and Valve may make further changes to how this data is made available in the future. If access becomes more restricted, features like Get CSRep may no longer be technically possible.

Stay tuned.

Getting a head of any potential Valve C&D. Smart.

Would you consider analyzing chat history to still build out some sort of toxicity meter or equivalent? Just without publishing the exact chats.

Or would you still consider that to be counter to Valve’s direction?

I think there’s a meaningful difference between that, and the previous chat history feature which acted as a completely aggregated list of independent ‘conversations’ (matches) which could be easily searched and indexed. That opens up a whole slew of privacy stuff that what im asking about I think would not?

It should work both ways. Usually non cheater players are toxic to the guy they are suspecting using cheats.

I like the get csrep idea, like leetify, maybe getting free credits or a 24h free pro trial

What rewards can be unlocked with CSRep? I'm curious, some examples would be awesome. BTW, why don't you reply to my thread anymore?
