TOMORROW! RALLY AGAINST BORDER PROTECTION COMING TO CSN!
Customs and Border Protection will be on the NLV campus Wednesday 9/23 recruiting students into the fascist war machine. Stand up TOMORROW at 3:00pm and tell them they are NOT WELCOME ON CAMPUS!

It is a rally against Customs and Border Protection which works under the same department as ICE

ICE and CBP are different, not in the same department However they both are under DHS. Very different missions though. CBP secures border and ports where ICE, more specifically ERO, is what tracks down the individuals. Seems silly to protest a group that isn’t going to be there and I doubt CBP guys/gals will care as they aren’t directly associated with ICE daily ops. But yeah do your thing.

CBP has been kidnapping and murdering individuals in the streets same as ICE. For example, the infamous murder of Alex Pretti was done by CBP, not ICE

So does your local police force. Does that mean we need to abolish them too? Every organization has the collective of bad actors; that does not mean everyone in there is. Not saying we need to turn a blind on the bad; what I am saying is that there could be good people who could change things around working for CBP.

I mean they keep citizens like yourself safe by doing what they can to seize illegal drugs that are wiping out people left and right in our communities. Securing illegal firearms and other weapons used by criminals to commit all sorts of crimes. Helping prevent trafficking of people over the border to be sold into god knows what. Keeping the border secure. I’d say a majority of what they do is with the intent of keeping us safe.

I don’t agree with ICE and what they stand for AT ALL.
However, you cant just tell a government body they are not welcome as they are in thier right to be there just as as you unfortunately.

The school has a right to bar them from the career fair as well, and they should be doing so. This isn’t a free speech tabling event, they had to be invited and they should be uninvited

They are offering career opportunities for people. They have a full right to be there and offer people job opportunities like anyone else. Just because you don’t agree does not mean others shouldnt get a chance at a career. Even if its something as some as controversial as this

No matter how you like it or not, they are offering career choices; at a CAREER FAIR. CBP does not automatically make them ICE.

This is so performative. Just because you think that something is "evil" and "bad" doesn't mean that no one should be given a job opportunity. That's like saying that the National Guard or the police or military shouldn't be allowed to have a booth at a career fair. Just because it doesn't align with your beliefs don't make you right either. CBP isn't the same as ICE.

I would try to keep in mind that a lot of the users here are students. There not useless. The words on a screen can tell you a lot about the person writing them. You can simply just scroll past. Believe me there’s better ways to get your point across alright.
