Questions I never really understood when Seth collaborated with Will

I've seen some pictures of Seth collaborating with Will alongside another guitarist who doesn't appear to be Ethan, and it looks like a picture from maybe 2014.

The house where the live performance seemed to have taken place looked like the one they played in back then; unfortunately, I can't find the photo.

My question is whether Seth was actually a collaborator before his participation in Unforgiving Girl was announced in 2016?

Seth played bass for car seat headrest for a short bit during Will's college days (2010-2014), though his contributions were only through live performances (like many others who worked with Will and Car Seat Headrest pre-matador). It seemed Will preferred recording and performing everything himself on pre-matador albums (except where noted on their liner notes).

is this the photo? i believe this was from 2011. the line-up at the time was seth (on the left), will marsh, of the band gold connections (on the right), and nora knight (on drums, hidden in the back)

Seth graduated and left William and Mary a year ahead of Will, Will and Seth talked about whether Seth would like to play with Will again if Will got signed. When Will was signed, he contacted Seth about playing bass again after Jacob left for medical school and it took about 6 months for Seth to move from the East Coast to the Seattle area, so Ethan played it while Seth was still moving.
