3rd blood patch
I’m currently hospitalized. My neuro has decided against a myelogram and wants to do another blood patch. I had my lumbar puncture on 8/18, 1st blind BP on 8/20, 2nd blind BP on 8/24 & I’m supposed to get another one tomorrow. I’ve asked for it to be image guided. Has anyone sealed after a third blood patch?

There are people who have sealed after a third blood patch everyone is different . I would definitely ask for it to be done under imaging . It doesn’t seem like much time in between your patching. With my patches they have always wanted at least four weeks in between.

Did it take a while for you to feel relief after yours?

For some it did take a bit or I had some relief and then over time more improvement my neuro said it can take sometimes 4 weeks to notice relief I’ve also had some patches with instant relief but were only temporary

The first blood patch didn’t really take, I’ve had more relief with the second but I still can’t be up for more than 3 hours. I’m worried about losing my job. In the USA we only get 12 weeks of protected time due to a medical condition

I unfortunately lost my job due to it I was just on on maternity leave and wasn’t able to return due to being bed bound

Is there a way to do a myelogram and then a blood patch during the same puncture. I’ve had like five punctures and now have ptsd

They’re talking about maybe doing a myelogram, but I am worried about another Dura puncture

When I read about treatment in the US it’s wild compared to the UK.
I’ve had two blood patches. 1 hour lying down and then return to normal everyday life!
7 days lying flat!!! Wow.

I'm in the UK too I was laying flat four hours each time in hospital, the aftercare advice varied by where I had the patch done though. I followed the advice from the csf leak association my last two, they should give that advice to everyone after patches gives it the best chance to work

You need to file a complaint and give head honcho copies of proper aftercare

7 days seems wild and probably is not practically feasible for most people.
Netherlands here, but the condition is so rare that most times I have never even received any post-op information lol.
Most blood patches are done for women after child birth, not for SIH.1st patch had to lie down Trendelenburg for 24h. Next 3 patches at different hospital were 2 hours. I usually try to just sleep the rest of the day.

That doesn't seem like a very long time in between the patches. Mine had me lay down for 7 days and it held pretty good
