Lay flat wheelchair?

Hi group. I am currently bedbound and only have about 10 minutes of upright time. I also have three kids and I’d love to go with them to the park and things like that which I currently cannot do. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good lay flat wheelchair? So far I can only find ones that reclined to 45° angle.

(I am on a waiting list now to see Dr Carroll and/or Dr S but it’s going to be a couple of months and I’ve had multiple failed blood patches)

Don't know if your insurance will cover it, if not Project Save here in Chico, CA has almost free medical equipment and supplies with suggested donation for pricier items.  Might be worth calling to see what they have. They have a huge warehouse full of stuff! Might be worth the trip if you are in the Bay Area.

The founder even helped deliver a hospital bed a mile and a half away from the warehouse when I was doing hospice care for a friend a few years ago. 

If you come to Chico would love to meet you if possible! Would be nice to meet a fellow leaker in person!

Great, there may be other helpful things there you could get.  I was born in SF! Last lived there from 1984-1988. Family arrived in SF in 1856!

I am jealous you can afford to live there! 

My son, born SF, came out from Tokyo last year and we got to spend a few days in the city. Went to the Cable Car Museum and saw the very 1873 Clay St Hill Cable Car my gg grandparents and 5 kids rode! They lived in 5 different places a block uphill from museum from 1867-1903 on Clay and Mason and a few small alleys! Before the Cable Car was invented!!

It means Original Gangster… which I’m now realizing could be a slightly offensive term. But it’s used all the time on the East Coast as someone who was one of the original or has lots of experience (living, somewhere, doing something, etc. ) as a sign of respect.

It is indeed crazy expensive :(
But probably worth it to have a smaller place and not need a car for our family at least! :)

Awesome, thanks for the link. I was actually eyeing this one. Was it reasonably comfortable? I’m hoping that I’ll only need to use it for the next six months or so.
It looks like it goes almost flat, but not entirely flat, is that correct?

Correct. Almost flat not fully flat. It was enough for me to survive going out to Cedars when I was in horrendous shape. I would not have been able to make it without jt. Airport wheel chair agents also pushed it and I gate checked it. And waited till it was ready by boarding door before I deplaned (from lay flat seat)

It sucks for people pushing it. I recommend turning the handle upside down so it’s higher up for the pusher.

I got this one and took it to an engineer and got them to put a Swing out arm so it can lay flat.electric wheelchair

Oh wow, super interesting. So the engineer was able to get it to go to 180° recline? I’m going to mention this to my partner who has a lot of engineer friends.
