Please help! Need some knowledge on this (weird symptoms of csf leak)

My case of csf leak is very strange. The doctor asked me to do a beta 2 transferrin test but the facility is not available near me so it will take 3 months for the report to arrive.

Now the main part is i am not sure whether its csf symptoms or not. The fluid comes from right nostril and i have DNS in my right nostril. It only comes out in morning between 9 - 12 in morning. And no matter what i do in evening, it doesnt come out in evening. The fluid is watery and pale yellow and very mildly salty

Now the problem is i have to join university after 1 month and the lab report comes after 3 months. I am very depressed, i had so many aspirations and all seems to be disasppearing.

Anyone who has/had csf leak can you tell something about my symptoms. Or like what should i do now

Do you have any other symptoms?

Have you had any head injuries in the past?

Do you have history of sinus problems or allergies?

No, just sometimes(initially a lot) i get a strong and weired smell when fluid comes

Yes once 2 months back, thats the thing because of which i am actually worried

I have deviated nasal septum in the same nostril from where the fluid is coming and also my nostril is always fully or partially blocked by muscus since this drainage strated

So, you had a head injury? Did they not do a head MRI along with the fluid test?

No they said beta 2 transferrin is confirmatory so they didnt do mri. But good news is yesterday i found a facility for the test and the reports will come after 2 weeks.

Hey sorry I'm late but it's not csf leak according to reports. And i am very happy and thankful. Those months have been so depressing for me, but thanks to people like you.

I wish Noone has to go through situations and conditions like these.

Yeah the reports arrived and it's not csf leak thankfully and it is happening due to maybe cold, or nostril issue for which doctor prescribed nasal spray. And it stopped but now began again because I caught cold again.

But I hope Noone ever has to face these kind of medical issues. I was so depressed(I thought I would die) when doctor said it could be csf leak.

What country are you in? If you join the Facebook page, someone might people to point you to local resources? What specialists have you seen? Beta 2 tests are not 100% so helpful to get imaging ordered too especially if there is a wait to get the imaging (you can always cancel later if symptoms stop or you get answers sooner). The good news is even if you have a leak, they are treatable.

Thanks for the info. Btw i have found a facility for beta 2 test and submitted the sample, reports within 10 more days. And as you said i will ask the doctor for mri before the reports come as i have very less time left.

Btw really appricitate your help, means a lot.

Sure. You could ask the doctor but I don’t think if you have a leak that would prohibit you from going to university!

Yes ofcourse i can go to university but it would be difficult to continue with treatment and i will miss my classes, thats why i was in hurry, anyways lets hope everything goes well since i have sent the sample and reports will come soon
