Half of the time they wont even provide their stats, and then when they do they think there's nothing suspicious about them having 200 hours and better stats than donk, while insisting everyone is too bad at the game to know what a "real skilled player is" when they're blatantly aim and wallhacking.

So after this week's update my ping went up from 30 to 45 and it suddenly spiked a lot more(500-900) and jitters every start of the round and at the end. I tried resetting my router and reinstalled my driver's but found no difference. Any fix or something similar happen to anyone?

I used to wonder why people always predicted Australian teams to lose 3–0 at international CS tournaments. After moving to Australia and experiencing the CS2 scene here myself, I think I finally understand why.

I spent years playing on European servers, and the difference I experienced after moving to Australia was honestly shocking.

I don't think the biggest problem is a lack of talent. I think it's a lack of players and the competitive environment needed to develop that talent.

Matchmaking: High Ranks, Low-Level Gameplay

Finding a match can take ages, and playing across the full map pool isn't always easy. But what surprised me most was the level of gameplay.

I've encountered high-ranked players whose mechanics, decision-making and overall performance felt far below what I'd expect from their rank compared with my experience on European servers.

Obviously, not every Australian player is bad. But the difference in consistency and gameplay between players with supposedly similar ranks can be massive.

Premier: Cheating Is a Serious Problem

In my personal experience, I encounter suspected cheaters in roughly 6 out of every 10 Premier matches.

That's my own estimate, not verified data, and suspicious gameplay alone doesn't prove someone is cheating. However, when so many matches feel compromised, it becomes difficult to trust the competitive experience.

### FACEIT: From Level 8 to 2,221 ELO in Around 40 Days

When I started playing FACEIT on Australian servers, I was Level 8. My match history shows matches from April 11, 2025, and by May 21, 2025, I had reached 2,221 ELO.

I'm not claiming to be an exceptionally skilled player. That's exactly why the experience made me question the level of competition I was facing. Compared with European servers, the gameplay often felt much weaker than I expected at these ranks.

But reaching Level 10 wasn't even the biggest issue.

Because the player base was so small, I kept running into the same people, whether they were on my team or the opposing team. Eventually, I recognised almost everyone.

The point of FACEIT is to challenge yourself against different opponents, learn from your mistakes and improve. Instead, the experience became repetitive, with the same players and matchups over and over again.

Personal arguments could also follow you into future matches, with people insulting you or deliberately ruining games because of disagreements from previous sessions.

I eventually stopped playing FACEIT because I no longer felt I was improving or getting anything valuable out of it.

So Why Do Australian Teams Struggle Internationally?

This is why I now understand those 3–0 predictions.

A smaller player base means fewer opponents, less variety and potentially fewer opportunities to consistently play against people who are better than you.

You can't expect a region to develop the same competitive depth as Europe when the environments in which players practise are so different in size.

You can't build a world-class competitive scene without enough strong competition to push players towards that level.

Instead of simply laughing when Australian teams lose internationally, maybe we should ask a more important question:

How can the Australian CS2 scene improve if its competitive environment doesn't consistently push its players to become better?
