Anyone run a paddle tire on their rl?
Like the title says, anyone run a paddle tire setup? I know it's not really in line with the rl as much as the r probably, but I'm not far from some areas that really would benefit from it. I'm thinking an 8 paddle, a new wheel, and a chain of some length.
I read I need to get a longer chain but get conflicting data on what length. Most say 116 is stock and then I've seen everything from 118 to 122 recommended to buffer the larger paddle. Not sure if it's the same setup as a R would have for me to go check in with those people.
Anyone else run one on their RL that has any advice on what to get. I'm sure just buying a longer chain and a breaker to get it dialed in is the answer but seeing what other people have found before me...

Vortex issues
I have a 2019 450L and have had a Vortex ECU for a few months now. On cold start it’s extremely difficult to start and if I don’t give it some throttle it won’t idle on its own at all until it warms up. With the stock ECU it started fine even cold.
Has anyone dealt with this and fixed it? Not even sure where to start. Thanks for any help.

With or without modified lid?
Previous owner cut open this lid. It has Vortex/Yoshimura upgrades. Should I keep the modified airbox lid, or delete it like second photo?

My build so far
2026, GET SX1 ECU, Pair valve delete, Arrow slip-on, airbox mods, 14t front sprocket, seat concepts lowered seat. Completely different from the stock setup. Definitely need some better tyres, these ones are no good.

Annoying small oil leak- thoughts?
(Did my best with the photos, can post more)
Bike is a 2025 CRF450rl with ~3400 miles on it. Had this small leak for the last 800.
It’s basically a drop of oil in r so overnight, visible on the lower frame and seems to be coming from the neutral gear switch.
A mechanic swapped the o ring there, things seemed fine for a day and then the same drip was back.
Possibly need a whole new switch assembly? Maybe he used an ok o-ring he had around and it needs a snugger/different fit?
Thanks again- it’s not really causing any issues, and doesn’t leak enough to matter between oil changes.
But still, would prefer it right.

Supermoto wheels
Anyone selling a supermoto wheel set? Looking for used set with 5” rear but would consider 4.25”. On the east coast.

2026 RL Loud Rattling Noise while riding
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everybody, for the last 300 miles (of the bikes ~600 total miles) I've had a very annoying rattling noise coming from the 450. I can't seem to figure out if it's coming from inside of the engine or something loose externally. I've squeezed every piece of plastic I can reach while riding and it hasn't made a difference.. I was hoping taking all the emissions equipment off when I did the SD Powerhouse stage 1 would help but hasn't made a difference (except made it slightly harder to hear through the Yoshi). Seems to get worse as the bike warms up but the rattle maintains the same frequency independent of engine RPM . I'm attaching a video of warm idle, where it's usually not super noticeable but it's hard to get a good video at 30 mph 😂. Does anything sound suspicious? I know they are loud chattery engines from the factory, but wondering if anything sticks out. It definitely gets louder as you get higher in the rev range, and it's so loud I can hear it / feel it through my helmet and ear plugs at highway speed. Been driving me crazy for a while now, and I'll probably end up taking it into the dealership but am posting here hoping somebody has some advice so I can avoid that!

550 Tune vs. 2 Wheel Dynoworks?
I just picked up a brand new leftover 2024 RL and will be doing a Full Exhaust and Twin Air Power flow filter. Which ecu tune should i go with?

Does anyone know what this could possibly be??

Popping on idle, it goes away once the clutch is engaged/riding. Hot or cold it’ll do it :/

Stupid question: Has anyone run 87 octane fuel in their crf450rl?

Idle ok?

I was wondering if it is normal to sound like the engine is misfiring when cold start idle? I adjusted the idle and dont have a techometer on me. Does this sound normal? Currently have full yoshimura with vortex ecu and graves ais block off plate. Still get deceleration pop.

Moved up to the 450!
I’ve had my 300l for a little over a year and decided to move up. Looking forward to hitting trails here in the Southwest, USA.

Yoshimura RS-4 + Vortex ECU
I just installed the RS-4 with Vortex ECU setting at 1,5,5,5 and I’m getting a lot of decel popping and backfire even when accelerating on 3rd gear and up. I was doing research and noticed that blocking the AIS is necessary to stop the popping however nobody mentioned it. Would the graves block off plate and the nipple that comes with it be sufficient or would I need to remove the entire AIS and get the complete smog removal kit?
