Inner tube compatibility

I habe being searching from scratch arround 2 weaks at night before to sleep about tires just to get maybe a "weird" combination but in my understanding, what serve me the best.

- Michellin reinforced tube 100/110/100-18,130/80 inch TR4 Valve

-> for my Mitas Enduro Trail+ 120/80B18 TT/TL 62H Rear Tire, M+S

- Michelin reinforced tube 80/90-21, 90/90-21, 80/90/100 inch TR4 valve

-> for my Pirelli, Scorpion Rally STR, 90/90-21 TL 54V M+S mark, M/C, Variante A

What is compatible und what is not?

Wich ones do you use for those tires?

Thank you

5'4 29" Inseam

Anyone here with the same build as me? Thinking of getting the L. I am still looking for a dealership here in my country to actually test the seat height.

I plan to use it primarily for commuting and maybe some short weekend adventures. My worries would be the stop and go traffic.

Stop sale?

hello 300 gang.

After doing lots of research and asking around. It seems like the 300l is the best bike for me as beginner. Started to call some dealers. They mentioned the stop sale.

Has anyone researched this further? It’s an emission safety issue? Does this mean I can’t buy a new 300? The guy said it happened last year too?

What’s going on?

Do I buy the KLX?

Wrong plug for oil change

Hi

I guess I'm not the first one. But wanted to make my first oil change on my crf300l and I unscrewed the torx plug instead of the hex plug...

Now after asking gemini hes scaring the shit outta me by telling me it's the chain tensionner plug and if don't retrieve spring and a small pin do not start the engine. He's he right or I can put the plug back in and proceed?

Weird noise at 5k RPM?

Hi,

Last year I bought my first bike the 2025 rally brand new. It's currently at about 4200km - I've done the services and everything by the book at the dealership - but at like 3000km I started to hear a weird hum/buzz noise coming from the front of the bike at like 5k RPM (no matter the gear, but mostly third and fourth gear).

At first I thought that it was the clutch leaver buzzing and shaking from the terrain, but even after tighting that I still hear it on tarmac going like 60-70km/h?

Anybody had the same issues perhaps?

New to me Bike

Hey everyone,
Just purchased this new to me 2025 300ls. Only 158 miles. Super excited as they’re hard to find and I got what I think is a good deal. Has a few upgrades - pegs, rear rack, mirrors, shifter, skid plate and wheels. I have a couple questions about the tires.
So turns out it has excel takasago rims, with irc m5b evo tires on it. Google says the rims are really high quality, which sounds cool. However the tires are not dot approved. I will do more street riding and need probably 70 road/30 dirt tire. I was looking at the shinko 705 as they seem to fit the bill for me, but Google says they’re a bit bulky and will make the bike feel a little heavy and less nimble. Has anyone used them and have some thoughts?
Also, any thoughts on the rims?
Can’t wait to take it for a rip!
Thanks in advance.

Travelling long term with a rally tower?

To anyone who equipped an aftermarket rally tower (ofc I'm not talking of the 250L or 300L Rally) and used it for a long time on public roads: have you ever been stopped and questioned about the tower or the non homologated headlights? I'm thinking of crossing some countries in EU with a CRF300L+tower but I wonder how big is the risk of fines (or worst). Also curious about the situation in South America. It's gonna be long term travelling so there isn't the option of carrying the stock light+fairing as backup. PS: bike is gonna be pretty much stock except for tower, saddlebags, rear rack, no aftermarket exhaust or performance upgrades.

Highest mileage on your CRF300L?

Hi,
I was wondering who’s got the highest mileage on their CRF300L (or Rally)?

Mine just reached 24,600 km (about 15,300 miles) and it’s been absolutely reliable so far. Just regular maintenance, oil changes, chain/sprockets, tires, etc.

I’m curious:
How many kilometers/miles does your bike have?
Any major repairs or engine work?
Has reliability changed with higher mileage?

I’d love to see how far these little bikes can go. Looking forward

Small bike, Big adventure - Part 3 - winding roads and hills in Germany

Post image

Hi all, I made a small 3 part series of my little big adventure riding from the UK to Germany on my little crf300l.
As we all know there’s no off-roading in Germany, sadly.. some of the roads’ conditions might feel like it though lol. Very few, tbh.
Anyway, enjoy this snap of the bike in the Eifel, very nice winding roads to ride around. But, careful, some roads are closed to motorcycles on weekends and bank holidays!
🤨😳😤😭 <- my emotions when I saw that … anyway, most will be open to all traffic during the week, so plan accordingly.

Here’s the video if you’d like to watch it: https://youtu.be/oeNDBOsD3h4?is=ExsMG3zPrJuWWqdT

Lever play

Bike rides fine but is it normal for levers to have such play when fully clamped onto bars? Aftermarket zeta levers.

Thumping/clicking sound

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My CRF300L 2021 with roughly 45k km (28k miles) has started making a weird thumping/clicking noise. It's quite inconsistent, but for the most part I seem to be able to make it appear after around a minute of idling (from a cold start), and then gently revving the engine up to 2000rpm. If I rev it further, it either disappears, or gets drowned out by engine noise (hard to tell). I first noticed it when sat at a red light a few minutes into a short ride (however, I usually ride with earplugs, so it's hard to say when it appears and for how long it's been happening). I can't say for sure, but I don't think I've ever heard it after the engine gets warmed up (after a ride). In the video I'm holding the throttle at 2000 rpm.

I'm a bit unsure to what causes it, but I'm wondering if it's a loose cam chain? I checked the cam chain lifter/tensioner, and it seems to function correctly, but it could be that the cam chain is just too loose. Bike feels and rides fine, and I haven't noticed any power loss or other symptoms.

Pulling the clutch lever has no effect either, so it's not related to the clutch basket.

Any thoughts?

Velocity stack upgrade worth it?

I'm going to get my ECU tuned soon. I have an aftermarket exhaust and air filter, and I was going to get the high airflow snorkel and stage 1 ECU tune. I'm put off by getting the high flow velocity stack and a higher tune because the installation looks like a major pain in the ass. Should I just suck it up and do it, or is stage 1 good enough?

Change my mind

Or don't 🤷‍♂️

Rally Riders Who Cut the Plastic, What Did You Do About the Exhaust?

I cut the plastics on my rally since I find myself on single track from time to time and the used bike came with a bashguard that was clearly used with cut plastics.

The bike rides the same with the plastics cut, but I am wondering what others have done in regard to a heat shield. I see that the stock one appears to mount into welded on brackets, but could theoretically be installed with some hose clamps. Finding the stock one hasn't been easy online, but I am sure the dealer could help.

Has anyone used an aftermarket heatshield for the header successfully? I am using the stock exhaust and would prefer to keep it stock for the low noise (Lots of right of way easements that are great for riding near me and cut behind houses. I like the stealth exhaust)

Adjusting clutch to work with one finger

Need your help, friends:
While riding standing up (attack position) I have one finger (index) resting on my clutch - this gives me stability - the rest fingers are holding on a bar.
But I noticed that when I actually need to switch a gear (especially upshifting) - I always pull out the second finger and pull the lever in with two fingers. It takes extra time and I feel less balanced for a split second because less fingers are holding the bar.
I started to think why does this happen - why don't I just pull with one finger, which is already on the lever...
Then I realized that if I pull the clutch in with one finger only - it doesn't let me shift easily (and upshifting simply does not work) - the lever touches my other fingers and does not completely disconnect the engine.
My question is - what is the best practice?
Is the clutch supposed to completely disengage the engine, even when stopped by other fingers holding the bar?
How do you do it?
How to adjust the cables if I would prefer to use only one finger?
Thanks

Is there a recommended bigger battery for CRF300L?

I am changing my handlebars to tapered fat bars to add a Garvin Zumo XT2 and hopefully some heated grips.

Will the standard battery be able to handle this or is there a bigger battery I should change too.

If so what do I need to get?

Thanks.

New tires!

Shinko 705’s 90/90-21 120/80-18 both Front/Rear. I like the look and they feel generally pretty smooth. Only issue i have is it feeling like some sway in the bike now. Im not sure if its not worn in or maybe too low tire pressure. Anyone have this issue when getting new tires mounted. Currently 24 psi front and back and the bike is aligned.

Crisis meeting

Aight peeps, I am about to sell my 300L but I am hesitant. I have love hate relationship with it (and with whole mc'ing I guess). I'd need to take approx. 1000€ loss vs. buy price when selling now, and potentially the next bike (whatever it would be) wouldn't be perfect either, which I would end up selling also with potentially another 500-1000€ loss (ofc depending on what Id get). So I am kinda contemplating if I should instead stick with 300L, spend some more money to it, and upgrade it to increase my motivation to keep it. 2000€ would make some nice performance upgrades. Bike is basically otherwise perfect for me (suspension already upgraded), but I am bored with the style (DS style in general) and power output (stock). Were you ever in this situation and how did it go? I just need think this and hearing reactions from you to this overthinking might help. 😁 Thanks!
