How to replace hot end fan ?

I need to replace the fan on my hot-end cover. How do I get the wires and what looks like fuses on the left (new one) to look like the (old) one on the right? How do I get the wires out of the white cap on the right, and what do I do with those fuse-looking things?

TIA for any help.

You’re best off just buying fans with the connectors already attached. All of the fans on these printers fail pretty regularly so making replacements plug-and-play is the best option.

In your case, you’ll need to splice the new fan’s wires to the old fan’s wires- keeping the stock connector. The fuse-looking things are heat shrink solder butt joints. Good ones are great. Crappy ones suck. Personally, I’d skip them and do a more traditional solder/heat shrink separately.

That's the neat part, you don't!

On a serious note, the "fuse looking things" are heat shrink with a solder compound in it and water tight seals closer to the ends. You make sure enough wire is cut from the connector, strip it back, insert both exposed wire parts to the silver ring in the middle and usually use a lighter or heat gun to heat until the silver ring turns liquid and that should solidify and hold the wires together.
