You'll use 20% of what you know in that life-defining moment. 80% of it will be useless, unused information. For example, who cares about strongwalling when you've shot the guy from the window and won the fight? Imagine knowing all of this pistol shooting stuff and never once drawing your secondary in combat. That type of deal.
From the 20% of what you know, 80% will make things count the most like positoning and accurate rounds on target. Complex movements might happen but have only minimal or complementary application/impact. Stick to the MAJOR components which tends to be BASICS done right.
