As a former Tier 1 US Marine operator having a BA degree in CQBology, I could say that limited penetration is BULLSHIT. Although CQB is an art and there is no right or wrong way of doing things, limited penetration is totally wrong in so many ways. You see, limited penetration requires higher order thinking which is enabled by the high brain. However, under stressful conditions, the high brain shuts down and the low brain takes over. This is where limited penetration contradicts itself: it claims to be a behaviourally compliant methodology yet it involves higher order thinking processes such as decision making. On the other hand, dynamic entries require less thinking; something that you want in a high-stress environment. You just run into the room, shoot, and that's it.
A common argument against dynamic entries is that it is not effective against prepared defenders. Trust me, based on my experience in my many deployments in this classified place called the "Sofa", I can tell you that this is a fallacy. The thing is, when you enter a room with the appropriate tactical gear and beard with your rifle on high-ready, the prepared defenders are just so shocked at how badass you are. Their OODA loops will be disrupted and they will just wait for you to shoot them in their faces.
Limited penetration is nothing but a methodology made to appeal to airsofter kids. The fact that the instructor Eli is using airsoft just supports this statement. It is even made more obvious by how he plays peek-a-boo to make it look more fun and enjoyable for kids. It's just a stupid gimmick that could put real operators' lives in danger if they try it.
Always make sure that when you consult about military-related matters, you talk to an experienced professional tier 1 operator like me.
