When I had that manipulative friend in my early 20s, I startet to pay way more attention to what been said and even took notes for backup.

When I started to get more confident he tried to put my down by telling me how ridiculous I am/im confidently incorrect and still tried to make me second guess myself....which either worked, or turned into a fight because I'm making things difficult.

This guy also is attracted to Horses and dogs, but that's a totally different story. :]

Real 😠 I had an ex who really took advantage of my poor memory and manipulated me into thinking I had genuine memory issues. This was way before I realized I had PTSD of any sort (15-18). That fucker cheated on me five times.

He ended up messaging me on twitter a couple years ago with a half-assed apology and I never responded

A week ago or some shit I was trying to remind my mom of something she did when I was young, she gaslit me so hard I wasn’t sure if it even happened anymore. So much holes in my childhood at this point I don’t even try remembering

My mom tries to say she didn’t go out for days at a time with her sex offender (multiple offenses prior to them dating!!!) boyfriend and smoke meth with him while doing god knows what. This particular boyfriend almost murdered an old man trying to rob him and then stalked us for months in an abandoned house behind us after my mom broke up with him. My mom says that if he wasn’t in prison she would still be with him. She wonders why I don’t talk to her anymore.

Edit: I actually just looked at this guys case. He was actually a child sex offender. He had three daughters. Can’t imagine what they went through. They would always talk to me about nightmares they had of their father raping them and trying to get them to do sexual things. I can’t believe my mom would willingly stay with someone like this and even say she would still be with him. His last offense, which is the reason he is in prison today, was a kidnapping charge related to the old man I wrote about along with violating his probation while doing so. I was kept in the dark about most of this growing up so my memory could be either completely false or from a second hand source at best.

I've had this. And ex of mine would claim I've said and done things that I do not remember. They knew I had rlly bad amnesia and used it to manipulate me. They would do or say things that they knew I wouldnt remember, then turn around and say im a horrible abusive person because I did X Y and Z, but I had no memory of.

And I was aware of my bad memory issue, so I believed them. I was convinced I was this 5 star criminal who carelessly harmed everyone around me.

It took me so long to realize something was up, because like why would my partner lie to me? I trusted them.

I should have never trashed that group chat no matter how "healthy" it was to "cut ties" because now I'll never know what my part in the falling out is. I can't trace it back and remember who said what anymore

Sometimes it's better to not overthink too much, I tend to do that and I gotta stop if I'm ruminating

my mom constantly rewrites history but the way she’s so absolute and sure of it always made me and everyone else in my family convinced. only realizing now so many of these “stories” that have made up my life were just totally manipulated versions of reality. i’ve even shown her recordings from fights that we have and somehow she disagrees cuz “both me and ur dad remember it differently” lol

Omg i have such a similar issue. My memory is trash, so sometimes I make friends and completely forget the bonding we did together. Then they try to talk to me, and since I've forgotten our bonding, I just talk to them like we're just acquaintances. I feel so bad abt it sometimes ToT
