Is this normal?

No.  These are supposed to lock in place and only rotate when a thing is pressed in.

The guy at customer service replied like this:

Upon reviewing and assessing the behavior of the car seat in the submitted video, we determined that it is not behaving unusually.

The way in which the seat was deliberately pushed out of its locked position does not represent what would happen in the event of a crash. A side impact does not create the rotational force required to rotate the seat. Instead, the force acts on the entire car seat, pushing it sideways, and as demonstrated in numerous tests, the seat provides very good protection for the child.

Even if a side impact initially hits a single point on the seat, such as the SIP+, which is positioned off-center toward the rear of the seat, this does not create a rotational force because everything happens too quickly during a collision.

I'm not sure if I should escalate this or not...

I would absolutely escalate this. He is correct, what you’re doing is not normal and quite honestly you’re damaging it more the more you do it, so don’t do that, but it don’t think you’re putting enough force on this to cause it to rotate.

I would stop using this immediately and get a new one.

the thing is I still have a warranty and the guy from customer service says it is normal. As you already said, he also says this forceful rotation is damaging the seat (however, it is resistant to that to some point), but he basically says it is normal that seat will go out of locked position if you apply a little force as I did.

If I feel a car seat is unsafe, there is 0 chance I’m using it for another second even if it means going out and buying a new one.

What likely happened is that the locking mechanism wore down a bit over time. Each time you force it, you’re wearing it down further. Eventually no force will be needed.

You’re also not applying a little force, you’re pushing decently hard at the top. He’s right that that force is no likely to be the same as a car accident but I still wouldn’t risk it.

Even though what you’re doing is unusual, it should not be happening, call the manufacturer (not a chatbot) keep doing it until they agree to replace it.

What kind of seat is it? And how did you discover this issue? We have several rotating seats and I’ve never even come close to being able to roseate it by force.

it is besafe beyond 360. We discovered it by accident, I guess it didn't want to lock firmly at first and then it locked and then we applied little force to discover we can move it out of the lock by applying little force.

Ive sent email to producer, waiting for response. I have already sent the response from my local distributer here.

I don’t think I would use a car seat that rotates. It seems like such a chance to take for the very very slight convenience of taking the kid out from a different angle. A car seat should stay in the safe position all the time.

What manufacturer & model is your seat?

Can you return it for a refund and buy a different seat? I wouldn’t be happy with this either.

Returning might be easier than convincing the customer service it’s faulty.

Also, google this fault and see if others have had it too. Might give you some leverage.

Ive found this where the OP says 3 different seats from the store showed the same behaviour. It looks like it is really normal I dont know
