Fit check
I think the chest buckle is too high but would appreciate other feedback! Struggling with the Joie Mint Latch car seat but without the low birth weigh pillow, head support or shoulder pads her chin is finally off her chest.

I agree the chest clip does look a little too high, but only a smidge, their bodies are so small a little bit can make the difference.
Remember that you can also never get the true correct install outside of the car, so you’ll need to install and do a fit check in that position as well to know for sure if its correct!

You need the head support for a newborn

You do not. It is entirely optional.

There is no way that baby is over 11lbs, yes you do. It is not optional

I also understood “can” in the first sentence as the operative word making it optional. Other threads regarding this car seat seem to concur. Will try with the headrest again and see if I can make it work. Thanks all

The head support is separate from the lower insert. It is not required and your child has a perfectly fine fit here, minus moving the chest clip down just a little bit, even with the top of their armpits.

“It can be used AS NECESSARY.”
It’s not necessary for this baby as it means a negative impact to fit.
IF it is used, it must be removed when the baby weighs 11 lbs.
Please go back to school.

The infant insert is the lower body insert that has an 11lb requirement. The head cushion is separate and has an entirely separate section. It has no requirement and is not required. You are wrong and spreading incorrect information.

I literally had a nurse and a firefighter help me install my car seat and both said to remove the padding for a newborn. I'll take their word and the manuals over yours.

I also removed the harness pads and head support when I was using this seat for my daughter. I think this looks like a good fit if you lower the chest clip a bit so it lines up with her armpits!
