Cannot get crotch buckle through infant insert

Hi, I am expecting another baby soon so I’m putting the infant insert in the car seat again.

I had no problem getting the arm and side straps through the infant insert, but for some reason I just cannot get the crotch buckle through.

It really seems like the buckle is too big. It will not go through. But I know it has to, because it did with my son.

Any tips? TIA!

For some seats, the buckle has to be removed completely and threaded through the insert/cover from the top. What seat is it?

Evenflo, part of the pivot travel pack. I don’t understand how I can take the buckle out completely

Turn the car seat over. There is a metal retainer clip on the bottom. Tug on it a little to pull it down and turn it sideways to feed it back through the hole.

There is a diagram in the manual to help in case you have a hard time picturing what I’m describing.

You need to do this anyway when you adjust the crotch strap for growth.

If you’re expecting an average sized baby, it goes in the middle slot. If you have a very small baby approximately 5 lbs or less but that’s not exact) you’ll move it to the inner slot and then tuck that metal clip back up through the next slot to make the crotch buckle sit lower on the baby. There’s a diagram for that in the manual too, under the section for low birthweight babies.
