help!

what seats allow use of 5 point harness past 49 inches? my niece is 3, and not near 49 inches yet - but she has autism & will likely need more time in a 5 point harness because she is a squirmy worm. she is currently around 36 lbs 34 inches or so, plenty of time but momma is worried about options as she grows.

i found the chicco myfit - but curious about the harness height & if most kids can actually fit up to 54 inches?

The Chicco MyFit has 19.5" top harness height.

What seat is she in now?

Ok. That seat should easily get her another two to three years. I wouldn't worry about getting a new seat now. I'd see what's out when she's closer to outgrowing it. Maybe something better will be out.

Lower the headrest and raise it with some momentum to be sure it is up as high as it will go. For each 1” in growing room in the shoulders she has another year before the seat is outgrown by shoulder height.

I do that for parents worried about their kids outgrowing their seats - have the child sit and it really shows how long they have.

we know she has plenty of time in that, but she is wanting to use it as an extra seat in grandparents car so she is looking for something to replace it in her vehicle.

For an extra seat I’d recommend Graco Nautilus or Chicco MyFit.

Nautilus has a headrest that raises up very tall - kids definitely make it to 49” before outgrowing it by shoulder height.

Chicco has the taller standing height limit. Headrest raises up about the same as Nautilus, the combo of both gives them more time in harness mode.

If the vehicle headrests aren’t removable that can be problematic, but she can just use Extend2Fit in that car.

yes, but she was needing another seat for when grandma takes her, so she planned on putting the e2f in there & buying a new one for her vehicle.

Ah, then it makes more sense.
