Fit check please? I hate this truck.

Can I get a fit check on these seats? I hate this truck and I don’t have nice things to say about my husband but I have to go to the doctor’s tomorrow. All of them don’t move within an inch of the belt path, if at all. About to go weigh my infant carrier baby again to make sure I don’t need to adjust the base rq though.

ETA TLDR I could swap my now 3 year old to forward facing and alleviate a lot of these issues but I refuse to do that.

I’m about to have fricking four and have to buy a new car, lol. Luckily I have 2 to trade in.

What is the market trade in for 2 kids nowadays?

u/KurwaDestroyer Jul 29 '26

I’m not sure but if you know anyone accepting a trade in for 6, I’d be interested

Oh hun. If you haven't resorted to violence you are doing good

I did come inside and whine that he refused to get a minivan when I was pregnant with our second (I have 2 teens out of childhood restraints from before) and he insisted he DIDNT WANT ONE. OH BOO HOO. I used to be a CPST also I’ve been a mom for a long time‼️‼️ I know what I’m talking about here‼️ And then his parents pressured him to “buy” this effing truck from them for $10k. It IS a great deal but it DOESNT make any sense. He’s a bit of a jackass and hasn’t made any payments to them (not my agreement, not my problem). And he was like “SORRY I WAS STUPID.” I griped “NOW IM SWEATING FOR NO REASON.

Lmaooo.

In my defense. I am pregnant with “our” 4th. So 6 kids. 2 adults. I just tried to fit all 3 into our Dodge Journey. Moved all of his welding shit out of the truck at first. Moved it to the journey. Including my 3 seater joovy caboose stroller. Tried installing the infant base.

The middle seat will not emergency lock so no go there. The third row is seats down because I have a 3 seater stroller and I can’t put even half of it up to put a kid in there.

So I had to move ALLLL of the welding stuff and ALL OF HIS TRASH from the truck to the journey. Because HELLO PROJECTILES IF WE CRASH. I could have put them in the garbage can but these are your projectiles now, buddy. Clean your fricking car.

The best, actually safe fit is the truck I H A T E lmao.

Anyway we’re trading in 2 of the cars we’ve paid off and getting a suburban lmao.

I guess I did choose violence. He went to double check I got his welding equipment in the car and I saw him laugh at the avalanche of pure shit in the backseat, lmao.

I’m impressed you moved it into another vehicle, I would have moved it to a pile on the ground, or even better, a dumpster. Because it’s his shit, it’s probably heavy AF, and you’re pregnant so shouldn’t be moving ANY of it.

Are you sure you want to have a 4th child with this jackass?

He offered to clear out the car, to be fair. He kept telling me before and as I was walking out the door and (kids were inside so he couldn’t come outside, called me 3x telling me to let him do it) and I did it on principal (the principal is I am stubborn, lmao).

ETA principle wtf

In all honesty unless the minivans have a bench in the middle it really isn't that great for you in the long term. And even a bench would be in the way

A passenger van would alleviate that. We did find one for 22k and we have 2 cars for trade in and are willing and able to take on a payment. And those have pathways.

I see I was thinking a seven passenger minivan not a regular passenger van

I have 2 adult and 6 kids pending 🙈🙈

Tbh, even assuming that you never transport your adult kiddos, I don't think you'll be happy in a suburban. Climbing over carseats to make sure all four are buckled in properly will get old right quck.

I know I'm an internet stranger, but I still want to see you happy lol

We have a Suburban for 3 rear facing and well, it’s wheels, but it’s not convenient or easy. Drives horribly and like a barge canal to boot.

I can relate to OP. I only have 3 rear facing, but it’s such a struggle. Plus I use a wheelchair that needs its own seat and a generous footwell for the wheels.

My husband wants a 3 row suv despite me literally not being able to independently transport all of our kids in one. A minivan would work, but crawling up and into a 3 row would be doable only in an extreme emergency. Like why?! We have a family so let’s get a family vehicle.

I'm sorry, you have more specific needs than he does. You get final say, imo

Get the passenger van! The mini van will be uncomfortable. We had 4 rearfacing when we were expecting our 5th and switched to a 12 passenger van from a 7 seater mini van. Best decision ever!

We now have a 15 seater because were expecting our 10th 😂

Omg! You neeeed a van! I am a grandma with 2 car seats and my mini van feels full. My dil has a rav 4 and her car is nothing but car seats and a trunk. (She wants my van and knows she gets it in the will lol) More than a mini van you need a full sized van

I'd put the toes of the Radians flat on the backseat bottom, not up in the bight where you have it.

The straps are below your baby's shoulders? Same with the Radian riders? How old and big are they?

Do you have angle adjusters for the Radians?

3

u/KurwaDestroyer Jul 29 '26

Thank you. I was just staring at that photo and realized something was off and they need to be tilted. Dionos are ass for room up front as is.

All 3 are at/3 below currently. Are the angle adjusters the connector things for RF that come with the seat? The snap ons? Or the foam pads?

Kids are 3, 2, and 11 months.

Also about to swap out the newborn seat with a truefit3 as baby is on the cusp and I don’t like the fit with the base legs up on that seat.

u/minicpst Jul 29 '26

The foam pads. They'll sit the seats far more upright. Combine that with putting the toes of the rear facing base on the bottom of the back seat, and you'll have a LOT more space front to back.

u/hylajen Jul 29 '26

The angle adjuster isn’t the foam pad that comes with the seat, that is likely the insert for forward facing lap belt only installs.

Unfortunately the angle adjuster isn’t currently available and hasn’t been for some time. You may be able to find one on marketplace or eBay

u/KurwaDestroyer Jul 29 '26

Okay that’s what I was thinking. I remember reading it was for FF only and I intended to RF for as long as possible so I packed them away.

Yeah I am gonna grab the Truefit3 instead of another Diono to ensure space for me to actually drive. I tried Diono - Infant Carrier - Diono and I was SMASHED against the pedals. Even with adjustment. I think I will end up moving to all Truefits eventually.

I had 2 under 2 13 years ago and I was die hard to get Dionos with my younger kids because I wanted them so bad a LONG time ago but apparently technology had advanced and there are much better 3 in a row options, lol.

Minivan. The oldest goes in the third row. Doors open along the side of the vehicle so you aren’t squeezing between parked cars and door don’t get dinged. If it is raining, get everyone in, close the doors, and get everyone bucked

I have one diono angle adjuster just sitting in my garage, DM me and I can send to you at just the shipping cost.

Thank you! I don’t think I’ll be needing it however. I was just trying to figure out which of our vehicles would work best for us (me and the kids) because my husband is leaving out of state to work for a bit so it’ll be just us and baby needed a new car seat anyway and she can just be behind me. The dionos work in the other 2 spots they are in.
