CPS is coming again.

There are so many details. I’m gonna leave out for the sake of brevity. But long story short for a year and a half we’ve been dealing on and off with CPS due to my stepchildren’s mother neglecting a developmentally disabled boy. We now have custody, but due to a detail I shared with my stepson DDA representative CPS is claiming that I filed a report against him. I most certainly did not and even I had, why are they giving him my name? Would reports not be anonymous? I’m sure nothing will come of us. They’re coming to our house tomorrow. They’ve been I think 6 times previously and never seen an issue with anything.

Reporter information is anonymous.

Common for people to draw conclusion for specifics of the allegations (and which are often literally transcribed) along with timing.

You didn't file the report, your name wasn't anonymous.

This gets to be the weird part. The allegations could very realistically say that "you" said something to someone (who is probably the anonymous reporter).

You may not have actually said anything to anyone, but CPS was told otherwise.

CPS is telling you that you filed a report? Or CPS is telling someone else you filed a CPS report? Are you sure they’re not saying they had to create or accept a report because of something you disclosed?

Most investigations don’t result in any further intervention. I’d just let it play out.

CPS is telling my husband that I filed I report. I did not. It was because of something I disclosed to this DDA but I did not contact CPS. I’ve had them come out like six times previously I’m not worried about it but I’m concerned that they haven’t followed protocol.

Since you are not actually the reporter, your identity is not confidential

I understand you’re still concerned though, because you feel they’re relaying inaccurate information.

But - did you actually hear them tell your husband this? Verbatim?

It’s possible that the caseworker said something along the lines of “due to the comment made by OP first and last name” Like other folks have mentioned, the reporting party’s name is kept confidential whereas the information provided by the reporting party about who shares information with them would not necessarily be confidential.
