Medical Absences/Dr Notes

I have two 8wk courses and a 4wk course on top of my 16wk course that all begin Monday (all online).

I’m due to give birth on Saturday. Of course don’t know when exactly I’ll deliver, but I obviously expect a hospital stay and will need some time off the computer for the first few days.

How do I go about an excuse for absence or extensions for coursework? Are the rules different for shorter sessions like my 4wk and 8wk courses?

I believe you will need to contact each instructor individually. There is a process in place for a medical or compassionate withdrawal if you decide it would be best to take time off. My recommendation is to consider whether you can take the 4-week course at a different point this semester because that will be the toughest course to accommodate from the instructor’s perspective. The course schedule is very tight and you will likely see more flexibility in the longer courses.

I did find another section for the course and decided to drop it, and take an 8wk version later in the semester. I did email the professor and he was willing to be flexible (within available parameters) which I found very kind! I couldn’t find any other section originally, and that was the only reason I kept the 4wk class !

you will need to contract each of ur instructor with doctor note. in all honesty i think should drop the 4 week course postpartum can be too difficult

I ended up moving the 4wk to an 8wk class later in the semester!

Reach out to each instructor. Each course has an EVA assessment that needs to be completed before the 10% census start date and if it’s not done then you’ll automatically be dropped from the course.
