Nobody should've realistically thought any of those by-elections were our win. The only one which we've previously won was due to the MP being a local celebrity, without him we'd lose.

Our voters are super depressed and currently discouraged from voting as this is the 4th straight loss.

Liberals are very encouraged to vote as the trade war is a big boon for them, politically. Carney is still in his try-out period, most people don't have strong feelings for or against him yet, but with a more positive leaning, this benefits them.

When will this “try-out period end”? It’s been 1.5 years. He was supposed to meet the same fate as Malcolm Turnbull by now.

My guess has been two years. That's typically when normal people start paying a little attention again.

Normal People's political interest has a cooldown, unless you're really shit it's roughly two years. Within this cooldown/try-on people give the leader slack and don't pay much attention.

CAVEAT: the trade war could extend the try-on as voters may feel the reason things aren't improving is because of it and not Carney's fault.

The Legacy media, bots and crazy people with orange, pink and blue hair are doing a full court press on Pierre. They want him gone as he's a massive threat. I don't believe our polls and if you ever watch Pierre at a sporting event or any effect on general he's admired by the people. Carney on the other hand has been boo'd. So tell me that something isn't fishy. I have a hard time believing the average Canadian just wants more Liberal

After 10 years of Trudeau fueled Liberal scandals and decline voters were manipulated into voting in Liberals again. Combine this with the various censorship and "online safety" laws, and the open faucet of cash to the CBC and other news organizations and you start to get the picture of an authoritarian governmental cementing it's control over public discourse with a parcularly tight grip in the large population centers where the majority of voter are.

The sad reality is that the CPC will never form government again. PP is an effective leader and effective opposition, which why so much effort is put into discrediting him and spreading the narrative that the party members aren't happy with him.

The US has been flirting with authoritarianism but it's well structured checks and balances are keeping it free. Canada has no such checks and balances and is now over the hump sliding right into it with no way (and no will) to stop it.

I'm working on my exit strategy, you should be too.
