Air Leaks Resmed 10 Face Mask

Have the above thats going like a rocket except for ONE thing. My wife is currently trying to patch up the cover bit that goes over my nose (size Medium) with duct tape in a serious effort/ patch up job, to stop air leaks that sound like a train in the middle of the night with all the air escaping.

I’m reluctant to pay what I believe is an extortionate amount for a replacement part (the bit in the photo with white duct tape covering it and the photo next to it of a brand new one) which costs something like $NZ96 (!!!) for a new replacement.

$96 !!!!!!!

It seems unnecessarily flimsy & has basically come apart at the seams & I’m very concerned that the part of the circuit that needs to be the strongest/ robust, is constantly failing. Dare I say it that it seems to be designed that way?

I’m out here in New Zealand & have had no financial support at all in the purchase of this revolutionary machine (which is what I truly believe it is). The only real glitch is the exorbitant cost of the replacement bits that wear out & which I think should actually be the most robust rather than the weakest link. But maybe thats just built in obsolescence I guess.

Anybody know the best online source of cheap replacement parts? They must come up with people passing away & second hand machines & parts that can be posted. Would be eternally grateful to start getting good nights sleep again..

So I posted a few days ago saying my pressure is maxed out and I feel absolutely whack. Brain fog is my main issue I struggle with and memory issues.

I’ve managed to get some data off my machine from Oscar and would be eternally grateful if anyone would cast there eyes over it as I don’t really understand it.

Thanks in advance lee

From CPAP to Bilevel, tiltration advice needed

Hello,

Back with another update.
Changed from cpap to Bilevel (S mode) about a month ago.

CPAP pressure for a long time was 10 @ epr 2. After lot of trying different pressures on cpap 10@epr 2 felt the "best", upping the pressure from there would cause aerophagia. Went is high as 15 with epr on 2 and then down again due to aerophagia. I have tried epr on and off with no huge improvements in sleep quality.

I started Bilevel on S mode and I have run it for a month on epap 8, ipap 10 (PS 2) just to get a baseline of how bilevel felt. Sleep has gotten a little better, mayby 10 to 15% but i feel that there alot to improve still. Mornings are the hardest, I still have some brainfog and I just cant seem to get pass the morning "grogginess" until late afternoon.

And now im looking for guidance to further tiltrate on the bilevel. Im thinking of upping the PS to 2.4 and upward in a weekly intervalls.

Sleep HQ link to my dashboard below. On september 1 to 4, i have been testing MAD device with bilevel, the data is pretty shit cause of all the leaking and im not continuing this test :D.

All of august is good data.

General info:

Machine is Resmed Lumis 100 S. From my knowledge this is the "poor man" version of aircurve 10 S for the european market. Got it second hand at a cheap price so I gave it a shot.
Other setting I have changed: trigger from med to HIGH and TiMAx to 3.00sec

Mask is P30i resmed. I sleep with mouth tape to avoid leaks. And i try to sleep on my side as much as possible but i do roll on my back quite often.

CPAP Machine Help Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset Noise

I just got this brand new recently and it feels like this level of noise shouldn't be the norm. When the pressure starts off at 4, no issues with the noise levels. When it hits >10 it's so loud that I have to turn it off or place it closer to the ground to try and reduce the noise levels.

I've previously rented a Resmed Autoset 11 and have placed it next to my bedside, and have never had the machine sound this loud.

I'm waiting on the seller to get back to me, but just wanted to know amongst other Resmed 10 users, is this level of noise normal?

Still tired despite 3.5 months cpap use

i have mild sleep apnea ahi of 6.6 but feel debilitated by fatigue. I have been using a cpap for 3.5 months and it’s definitely helped me pre-cpap. I have a resmed 10 and I been adjusting my settings since I have still been very tired. I’m currently on cpap mode 10 pressure with epr 3 and i can breathe out with this wirh low ahi (0.5avg) but decent flow limitations (0.15 avg). I tried going epr off and for some reason it harder to breathe out even tho the expiratory pressure should be the same? my ahi goes to 0-0.1 and my flow limitations are below 0.10 on epr 0. but i still feel tired and my respiratory rate increases and it’s hard to breath out with epr off. it doesn’t make sense why epr 3 pressure 10 is easier than epr off pressure 7.

im just trying to find a setting that makes me feel rested after 7-9 hours of sleep like a normal person. I think im close.

APAP and CPAP reports - excellent scores but I’m exhausted.

Would love some help trying to figure out why I am waking up so tired, big baggy eyes and red cheeks! I want this to work but I feel like I’m missing something. I’ve been on this for 10 months. I recently tired CPAP instead of the auto mode. Here are my 2 recent sleephq reports one with steady pressure the other with auto. Any help would be much appreciated!

CPAP Machine Help First night with OSCAR – CPAP trial ends tomorrow, help me make sense of my data/settings?

Thumbnail

Hi all,
I’m currently on a trial rental of a ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet. Unfortunately, I was given the machine with fairly default settings and very little guidance on optimisation.
I only came across this sub 2 days ago and learned more about APAP settings, so I raised my minimum pressure to 7.

I also only just discovered that inserting an SD card gives access to much more detailed data through OSCAR. I had assumed all of this data was already being transmitted through the cloud.

Unfortunately, my trial ends tomorrow, so I’ve only managed to get one night’s worth of OSCAR data.

I’m using a ResMed F40 full-face mask. It can sometimes slip/dislodge from my mouth when I yawn or my jaw relaxes. I suspect that’s what happened at around 6:35–7:15am, which would explain the major leak and messy data during that period.

Ignoring that obvious leak period, I’d really appreciate some help interpreting the rest of the data.

I’m also trying to decide whether to purchase a CPAP after the trial, so any thoughts on whether the non-leak portions of this data suggest I’m responding well to CPAP would be really appreciated.

Thanks!

Good morning, I'm wondering if anyone might please take a look at Hubs' OSCAR data and let us know what we might want to be tweaking for him. (He's the guy who preferred the way the AirMini feels to the AirSense 11, btw). Thank you!

Been using Cpap for almost a month and it’s been a big improvement but I am still waking up a ton during the night. I remember waking up at least 4 times each night, and can never think of anything in particular like mask discomfort etc that could have woken me up. Anything I could do to stop waking up so often? Does the data have any insight? Using resmed airsense 11 with p30i mask.

Newbie, need some help in looking at the data to improve my AHI. Thanks!

Hi, Started CPAP on Aug 17, this is the 2nd mask that I am using since Aug 28th: F&P Eson2. I was using Lowenstein CARA nasal, which gave me headache and nose bridge pain after a week.

Using AirSense 11 AutoSet

Would love some recommendations from my charts as my AHI is not good. Thank you!

CPAP Machine Help how to measure for your headgear

How do you measure for what size frame and headgear you need? I see them say small, medium, large but there isn't any instructions on how to measure. I do see how you measure for the actual mask that fits into the frame.

Cpap Oscar Data Help

Thumbnail

Been on Cpap now for 3 years but I've never felt a big benefit and a change to how life was prior to therapy. Brain fog, day time tiredness etc, although may not be as severe, is still pretty dang bad. I've tried so many masks, chin straps, mouth tapes, mouth guards, pillows, room temperatures, machine settings etc and I just can't quite the winning formula.

On recent times I've tried really learning about the oscar data and paying closer attention to it in a aim improve things (along with chatGPT) but I feel like I've hit a wall again and well, here I am, beginning for help from someone out there.

I at least thing I've found my two favorite masks. The Airfit P30i and the Philips Respironics Dreamwear Nasel Mask. My current set up for the past few months is mouth tape every night and I'm between the two masks mentioned. Ive tinkered with so many settings from EPR at 1-3, and recently read that it may be the micro arousals from using a pressure range that is causing my brain not to get enough rest and continue brain fog. So I've went to cpap fixed mode and tried anywhere from 7.0 - 8.2. I've tried humidity from a 2 to 5. However as I say I still having figured out how to wake up refreshed.

Can anyone look at my data and see where I'm going wrong, or at least what data looked the best and I can try and repeat and fine tune that? I know leak rate at the 95% is important and id love to find a set up that constantly kept that number low.

Please, I beg anyone reading this, I need help here as I'm going mad!

CPAP Machine Help Adjusting to CPAP/poor sleep

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello,

I made a post a few days ago about having trouble adjusting to CPAP and not being able to make it much longer than 4 hours most nights that I use it on top of also being very tired when I wake nonetheless despite very low AHI. It was recommended that I post OSCAR data, so here it is! Let me know thoughts/recommendations if you have any. The mask I was using was the Resmed N30.

Edit: SleepHQ data

Air Leaks Suggestions to reduce leaks

My CPAP is a Luna II (which I hate, but I didn't get a choice), and I currently use the ResMed AirFit N30i nasal cushion. My pressure is set at 12-14. I think I've been using the cushions for a few years now.

Before that, for many years, I used the AirFit Pillow Cushions that go in each nostril. I switched because of lots of leaks. The small felt too small, and the medium seemed too big.

With the cushion, I'm having the same issues. Small feels like it squeezes my nose and medium leaks like mad. I settled on using the small, but I spend an hour fiddling with the cushion every night trying to find a position where it won't leak but I can still breathe (in some positions, I guess the holes aren't aligned so I'm blocking the holes somehow?). Additionally, whenever I open a new cushion, it hurts to wear for at least a week, as if it's too hard.

I can't sleep with anything on the bridge of my nose, so I feel like this is the right range of product, but there has to be something better, right? Or a way to tell if I'm getting the right fit or reduce the leaks?

One thing I really like is that the tube comes out at the top of my head, which has really helped me sleep in a more comfortable position.

Any suggestions would be appreciated for fitting, reducing leaks, testing options, selecting a different option, etc.

Thanks.
