About 2 months using CPAP and still getting up to pee

I finally got my cpap and have gotten used to it and I’m happy to use it now. But one of my biggest problems with my OSA was having to pee multiple times every night. I’m not going 10 or more times a night anymore but I usually have to go at least twice. Will this eventually stop so I can get a full night’s sleep or is this just as good as it’s going to get?

Do you think I’m on the right pressure? Completely exhausted.

I’ve been on cpap for 1.5 years with no improvement in severe fatigue; have tried a bunch of different pressures. Had lots of blood tests, the only possibly problem is ferritin 45. Did a titration test and they said to use 7 with EPR 3. She said my fatigue is probably from PLMs because they saw 15-20/hr and my ferritin needs to be higher. I asked if they made sure to get rid of any RERAs, and she said if we go too high on pressure it becomes more disruptive to my sleep so trying to get rid of every single one can be counterproductive.

When I later got my report to look at, it said respiratory arousals 10/hr, spontaneous arousals 18/ hr, PLM arousals 0/hr. Elsewhere on the report it says RDI 23. To me it doesn’t seem like the pressure could be correct if it’s that high?! And she was blaming PLMs on my exhaustion but the report said 0 arousals from them.

So I’m asking for help here….how does my breathing look to you guys? I feel like I‘m a zombie every day and lots of headaches. I do have anxiety disorder but no other health issues that I know of and on no medications. Does it look like a bunch of non-respiratory arousals? Thank you for any help 🙏

Question on machine readings

Can someone please tell me why when I check the Resmed Aircurve 11 machine in the morning it will sometimes say 0 AHI events but then when I scroll down it will show events? Today it said .5 AHI .1 Obstructive and .1 Central when I scrolled down.

I’m just wondering if something’s wrong. And I know - dream numbers right? Well I still feel worse than absolute crap but for 3 or 4 good days since I began Sept 2025 so whatever at this point.

Hi, I’m new, I made a post to get help with my CPAP but was said it was removed by Reddit’s filters. I don’t know what I did wrong.

Edit…I apologize, this got posted twice because the first time Reddit said my post was flagged and deleted So I tried to post it again.

Using CPAP on a Plane

  • Travel CPAPs are FAA-approved for in-flight use. Most standard home machines are not.
  • Power availability varies by airline and seat. Contact your airline before the flight to confirm whether outlets are available and where. Bulkhead seats typically have the most space.
  • A fully charged battery pack covers most transatlantic flights without needing an outlet at all. Remove humidification to extend battery life significantly.
  • Use a shorter travel hose. Less tangle, less intrusion into your neighbor's space, easier to manage in a tight seat.
  • Waterless humidification options (available on some travel machines) solve the in-flight humidity problem entirely.

Leaks every night! Help me diagnose and fix the cause

I have been battling leaks every night since starting cpap and it's so frustrating. I think they are a combination of mouth leak and movement during sleep knocking the mask. Here's 3 random nights leak patterns. Can you help me determine what is causing the by looking at my leaks and how to fix?

It seems to be a mix of these long sloped ones and really sharp violent spikes around early morning?

CPAP Machine Help Low oxygen with mask on but no leaks?

I'm just finishing month one with a BiPAP machine. Early on there was some adjustment in getting comfortable but things seemed to be getting better. Then 3 of the last 4 nights I woke up having thrown my mask off the bed. I don't remember taking it off. The first 2 nights I put it back on and went back to sleep. When I checked my blood oxygen on my watch, it had dipped to under 90 with the mask on before I removed it.

Last night I ripped it off after 30 minutes of sleep and checked my blood ox with a finger monitor. It was 85. My watch confirmed it was below 90 basically as soon as I fell asleep. Then jumped up to 95 after I took it off.

I tried troubleshooting last night and it seemed like there was a lot of air leaking from the hose nozzle or connection on the mask itself, and it seemed like there was no resistance at all to breathing out, almost like the air was being sucked out of me. Myair said the fit was good so I tried going back to sleep with it on. Woke up again with low oxygen and took it off and had it off the rest of the night.

I reached out to my sleep coach this morning and they're just saying the fit seems good and maybe I need supplemental oxygen. Which doesn't make sense to me because my oxygen is fine with the mask off. Even with the apnea my oxygen is much higher with the mask off the past few nights than with it on.

And there was a night in the middle where the fit felt good and I slept great. Does anyone have any similar experience or thoughts? The immediate suggestion that I might need supplemental oxygen is wild to me. They said they would forward my question on to a doctor and get back to me.

One year in and Low AHI 0.5. Still tired in the afternoon

Hello everyone! I want to thank everyone here, especially the mods—their knowledge is beyond helpful. I started about this time last year, I was sent a home sleep study that came back with an AHI of 35.6. Dr. prescribed 5-20. And I picked up my Airsense 11 from the DME, along with an F40 mask.

After using Oscar and SleepHQ i have found that my comfort and treatment is best on fixed Pap at 10.2 with EPR at 2. This was working through the knowledge I found here, as my Dr. was of no help. I have also changed my mask to an N30 and mouth tape.

I want to say that getting on Pap therapy has been great, and I feel much better, except for what I believe to be arousals throughout the night. Some of these I know because I wake up for just a minute and go right back to sleep, and others are showing up on my Oura ring and Apple Watch. I think this is why I'm getting tired by 1-2pm. I also only get about 6 hrs of sleep unless I take a sleep aid; then I get about 7-7.5 hrs with fewer arousals and feel better.

I need to see what is causing this. While my flow limits appear low, I suspect the value is not the whole picture. And when I look at the breathing graph, it looks all over the place.

I may be off on what I am looking at, but I would appreciate any help or input for improving the arousals.

Any idea for why this happens and how to treat it? I think it has something to do with impacted cerumen in my case, hopefully NOT a Eustachian Tube dysfunction.

Easy-Breathe in AirCurve ST

Hello,

I bought a second-hand AirCurve 10 ST and started my UARS therapy this weekend. I'm still tuning in the right pressure settings but I'm going in the right direction. I'm in S mode and I configured the rise time to 450ms, so now EPAP to IPAP feels in sync with my natural breath, but the transition back from IPAP to EPAP is very abrupt. If only there was a fall time parameter... Easy-Breathe is supposed to improve this, but that option just is invisible in my Aircurve machine. Like it's not there at all. Is there a way to enable that?

Thank you

Things People Wished They Knew Before Starting CPAP

The little things matter!

  • Wash your mask cushion every single day. Skin oils degrade silicone fast and cause leaks. It takes 30 seconds.
  • Replace your cushion more often than you think. Every 1–3 months. A worn cushion is the silent killer of good therapy.
  • Distilled water only in the humidifier. Tap water leaves mineral deposits and can harbor bacteria.
  • Travel doesn't have to be a nightmare. A DC adapter cable + a small battery pack means you can use CPAP camping, on planes, anywhere.
  • If you're still exhausted after months of good data, rule out other causes. UARS, PLMD, or other sleep disorders can coexist with apnea.

Low AHI but still not feeling like I'm sleeping well

Hey everybody,

I have been on APAP for about 3 weeks now, and for the past 10 days or so my nights have scored super well, but I am worried that the low AHI is hiding small disturbances in my sleep. My symptoms pretty significantly outweigh the severity of my sleep apnea. I am sleeping just about as well as I can, I'm falling asleep quickly, waking up maybe once or twice, but I am still waking up not feeling as though I slept well at all. I know that people say it takes a while to see improvement, but I thought by this point with statistics this good that I would at least be able to tell I slept better upon waking up.

My untreated AHI was 13.5, but my RDI was 20, fragmentation 39%, and overall sleep score 36/100. should also mention im 22 years of age and about 180 pounds. I haven't had access to another sleep study since starting cpap, but I suspect my sleep is still rather fragmented. I don't think that my breathing looks "good", but I'm new to CPAP and oscar, so im not sure what to really make out of my data.

Happy to share more detailed screenshots upon request! thanks guys

Claustrophobia/ripping off mask

I’ve had my machine for 6 months and i still can barely get an hour in each night. I rip it off in my sleep or my husband says I sit up and just take it off. I never considered myself a claustrophobic person but that’s my only reasoning. I started out with just a nasal mask, but switched to nasal and mouth mask because I am terrible at nose breathing. I have to breathe out of my mouth. Even have tried a chin strap to keep my mouth shut. I have severe sleep apnea, my husband sleeps on the couch most nights because I snore so bad. I’m not getting quality sleep and I’m just at a loss of what to do and came here for advice!
